Is it possible for Lin Zexu to ban smoking by train?

It's impossible.

Lin Zexu banned smoking in 1839, 37 years before the first railway in China was built.

The first railway in China was completed and opened to traffic by Britain and the United States on July 3rd. 1876. Later, the Qing government invested 285,000 yuan to redeem the railway in three phases and demolished it.

China people built the railway for the first time late. 1879, Li Hongzhang, the leader of the Westernization School, built a coal railway from Tangshan to Xugezhuang, and dug a canal from Xugezhuang to Lutai to connect the thistle canal to Beitangkou. In order to prevent the locomotive from shaking the ancestral tomb, the Qing government even let mules and horses pull the train carriages, which became a joke in the history of railway construction at home and abroad.

Therefore, it is impossible for Lin Zexu to smoke by train.
