What insects eat salt?

Salted shrimp is also called brine shrimp. China is also called saltwater worm or shrimp. It belongs to the arthropod phylum, including branchiopoda, crustacea, branchiopoda, Anura and brine shrimp. Artemia, as an important food organism and a good experimental animal material, has been widely valued by people.

Since 1775, Artemia has been studied for more than 200 years. However, its application as feed for aquatic animals began in 1930s. 1933, Seale in America used newly hatched Artemia nauplii as live feed for flounder larvae, and then Rollefsen in Norway also used Artemia nauplii as live feed to cultivate fry, all of which were successful. Practice has proved that Artemia nauplii is a high-quality feed for larvae and juveniles, so it has been highly valued by aquaculture workers at home and abroad.

In the late 1950s, Professor Zhang Xiaowei from the Institute of Oceanography of China Academy of Sciences first discovered Artemia eggs in China, and cultivated more than ten kinds of marine fry. It is proved that Artemia nauplii is a good live bait for larvae and juveniles. At the same time, the investigation, collection, incubation and cultivation of Artemia eggs were carried out accordingly, and a lot of valuable information was accumulated.

China is rich in Artemia resources, with 345,000 hectares of coastal salt lakes and nearly 1,000 inland large and medium-sized salt lakes. There are abundant Artemia resources in these vast waters.
