Delivery joke

This problem has also troubled me for a long time. When Incoterms 20 10 was revised, the phrase "or deliver the goods in this way" was added, and the English word was "or purchase the goods so delivered". Only applicable to FOB, CFR and CIF terms.

The background of this sentence is that there are more and more "multi-level sales-also called chain sales" in international trade at present. In other words, the goods will be resold layer by layer before reaching the final destination. If you are the first seller of chain sales, you can sell on FOB terms, no problem. You are responsible for sending the goods to the "designated ship at the designated port" to fulfill the delivery obligation. However, if your customer resells the goods again, and he is in the middle of chain sales, when using FOB terms, there is no such behavior as sending the goods to the designated ship at the designated port, but in fact he is doing business with FOB terms, then "or obtaining the goods so delivered" in the revised FOB terms is applicable to his situation. He did get the goods required by FOB terminology to be delivered to "the designated vessel at the designated port". Do not violate FOB terms.

By the way, chain sales are often used in the international trade of bulk commodities and raw materials.
