Those who oppose Empress Dowager Cixi say that this old witch is extravagant and adds to the burden of the people. He manipulated the central government of the Qing Dynasty, overhead Guangxu, killed six gentlemen of the Reform and Reform, opposed the Reform and Reform, supported the Boxer Rebellion to wage war with eleven countries, and finally suffered a fiasco. First of all, this is a person whose power control ability and ruling ability are misplaced.

Since 1840, China was opened to the outside world by the British and French allied forces with guns, and China was forced to start the modernization process. But more Qing government officials, including Empress Dowager Cixi, the actual controller of the Qing government, did not have a clear understanding of the West.

China in the late Qing Dynasty has been tied to the chariot of western modernization, and no one can stop the historical trend of globalization, industrialization and modernization. If the Qing government wants to become a powerful country, it must put down its airs and learn from the west in an all-round way.

In this regard, the proud Russian emperor Peter the Great is our role model and mirror. For the development of the country, he went to study in western Europe under a pseudonym and returned to China to strongly promote Russia's modernization.

However, the Manchu government headed by Cixi, like an ostrich, buried its head in the sand and rejected everything in the West. Perhaps they are afraid that if the reform, changes in interests and power will destroy the dominant position of Manchu. Therefore, they would rather "measure China's material resources and win the favor of the country" from the West than give up the oppression and deception of the Han people.

In this respect, it reflects the selfishness and ruthlessness of the Qing government, which has long been a force to stop China's modernization.

Cixi's super power balance and control ability can only temporarily maintain the rule of the Qing government, but it can't stop the widening gap between the Qing government and developed capitalist countries.

Secondly, this is an old lady without foresight.

Cixi, like other old ladies of her time, was virtuous if she had no talent.

Finally, Cixi is an old lady who doesn't understand diplomacy, politics and military affairs.

1840 and 1860, the Qing government was defeated twice by the British and French allied forces.

1895, the Qing government was defeated by the younger brother of Asia, Japan.

Under such circumstances, in 1900, Cixi believed that the Boxer Rebellion was impeccable and declared war on eleven western countries.

Many wise Han ministers thought that the old lady was crazy, refused to accept the imperial edict, and declared mutual protection in the southeast (the southeast provinces were neutral).

It was the mutual insurance in the southeast that prevented the crisis in the richest areas of China, ensured the stability in most parts of China, and once again allowed the Qing government to extend its life.

Remember, it was the Han people who made great efforts this time. Where was Manchu when so many difficulties appeared? They had a good time!
