What is the development process of Hainan's tourism economy?

Hainan and Taiwan Province Province are both islands in the Pacific Ocean. The land area of Hainan Island is about 34,000 square kilometers, and the island area of Taiwan Province Province is 36,000 square kilometers. Hainan Island is located in the South China Sea of the Western Pacific Ocean, about 20 degrees north latitude to 18 degrees, close to Southeast Asia; Taiwan Province Island is located in the East China Sea of China in the western Pacific Ocean, with a latitude of 25 to 22 degrees north latitude, which is the hub connecting Northeast Asia and Southeast Asia (roughly this latitude is the map). Strictly speaking, both of them are subtropical areas (if subdivided, Hainan Island can be classified as tropical and Taiwan Province Island as subtropical). The geographical location and environment of the two places are similar, probably some are in Hainan, some are in Taiwan Province Province, some are in Taiwan Province Province and some are in Hainan. The biggest geographical difference between them is not the natural environment (vegetation, climate, rainfall, etc. ), but the strategic position of development, that is, economic status and military status.

Hainan and Taiwan Province Province both belong to the route sailing eastward from the Persian Gulf to Japan via the Straits of Malacca, and are one of the transit points and hubs of this route. Some time ago, an international tanker docked at Yangpu Port in our province, which also confirmed this view. The world since the15th century geographical discovery is a maritime era. There are winding coastlines and excellent ports in history. In addition, countries or regions that have completed the industrial revolution as soon as possible will develop first, and those that are backward will be beaten or even more backward. Hainan and Taiwan Province Province respectively represent these two typical examples, which have profound historical factors, which will be discussed later in history. Militarily, Hainan and Taiwan Province are natural military strongholds, which can be used for garrison, transit and supply. In China's southern and southeast coastal areas, there are three most suitable locations, Taiwan Province Province, Hongkong and Hainan (other islands are too small to support military purposes, such as Macau). However, the fates of Taiwan Province Province, Hongkong and Hainan are different, which can be said to be worlds apart. Why?

Taiwan Province Province and Hongkong are prosperous because they are closer to the main channel of the Persian Gulf via Malacca than Hainan, while Hainan is slightly off the main channel. The three are not far apart. If a ship sails in the South China Sea, it is often more cost-effective to go directly to Hong Kong, Taiwan Province or the mainland than to Hainan, and there is no need to increase the cost by going around. From the perspective of economy and trade, the internationalization level of Taiwan Province Province and Hongkong is much higher than that of Hainan. The economies of Hainan and the mainland are highly complementary, and it is more often a place where the mainland provides resources and goods. From the military point of view, Taiwan Province Province faces a vast territory, with neighboring voyages from Guangdong to Jiangsu, while Hainan's neighboring voyages have only recently arrived in Guangxi and Guangdong, and Hong Kong can go directly to Guangdong by land and then to the whole country. As a military springboard, Taiwan Province Province has a much larger radiation area than Hainan, and Hongkong is much more convenient than Hainan. Therefore, Japan chose Taiwan Province Province as a springboard for its invasion of China, Britain chose Hong Kong, and France chose Guangzhou Bay (today's Leizhou Peninsula). This is a big joke played by the development of China's modern history. Hainan's military position didn't stand out until the Japanese invaded Qionghai and New China was founded, that is, it radiated to Southeast Asia. Hainan was much superior to the two places, and Taiwan Province Province was more concerned with the maritime threats from the United States.

Today, Taiwan Province Province has become the hub of regional economy, transportation and military affairs. Hong Kong's military function has deteriorated, but it is still an international center. However, Hainan has not yet formed a climate.
