There is a saying called "leaning on the heavenly sword and being proud of things", which is more appropriate for him. Kang Sheng once said personally that Qi Baishi is the great painter he admires most, and his own painting level is comparable to that of Qi Lao. You know, Master Qi Baishi is 1 a great painter. And his most famous place is painting shrimp.

However, Qi Lao's works have high artistic value. 1956, 92-year-old Qi Baishi painted a maple leaf in Qiu Chan. At that time, he created this famous painting by combining Chinese and western art methods. Later, this work had a strong response in the painting and calligraphy circles. However, Kang Sheng's remarks that he dared to compare himself with Qi Baishi were unacceptable to many people.

But Kang Sheng looked down upon Guo Moruo. Lao Guo is also a famous writer in China. He is not only proficient in calligraphy, but also has a good knowledge of Oracle Bone Inscriptions. Guo Moruo also dabbled in painting. But Kang Sheng thinks that Lao Guo's literary attainments are not bad, but his painting level is not worth mentioning, and he can't compare with himself at all.

In other words, Kang Sheng looked down on Lao Guo's painting level. The achievements of calligraphy to be said are very comparable. 1962, 24-year-old crouched in front of Guo Moruo's house, waiting for his paintings to be signed for Fan. As a result, Fan Ceng got angry. This shows that Lao Guo's literary status is very high. So is Kang Sheng's statement of "surpassing Guo to catch up with Qi" a fact or hubris?

Objectively speaking, Kang Sheng's achievements in literature, painting and calligraphy are indelible.
