Is there anything we in China can be proud of?

From the perspective of modern science and technology, education, health, medical and entertainment, what we continue to use is not something we created. The traditional Chinese medicine we created is experiencing a crisis because of its theoretical flaws. Our traditions are habits, and some of our characteristics cannot be said to be civilized, nor have they anything to do with progress. Whether they are Indians, Germans or American peoples, they all have their own customs, which are not directly related to progress.

Chinese characters were something we were once proud of. As a hieroglyphic script, it is more complex and older than Latin languages, so Japan and South Korea have learned from it. It's a pity that after we simplified her, she became neither fish nor fowl.

We often talk about filial piety. In fact, filial piety is a normal part of ethics in any country. It’s just that we have been systematized and literalized because of politics.

However, one thing has indeed been done well, that is, the thirty years since Deng Gong broke Lao Mao’s struggle line and carried out economic development. Over the past thirty years, our country has integrated into the world's economic and industrial links, got a share of the pie, and then promoted social development. However, although there have been huge achievements in the past thirty years, there are also huge problems, conflicts are intensifying, and solutions cannot be liberalized. A large number of problems accumulated in the industry have surfaced, house prices and commodity prices have become hot issues, complaints have become a common phenomenon, and a sense of historical repetition is becoming more and more obvious in all aspects of the country. So it’s too early to talk about being proud.

I think the only thing that China can be proud of is its historical experience. The problem is that these experiences are not used to draw lessons to guide innovation and development. On the contrary, these experiences are used to inherit and form routines. If we learn from the failures in history, reflect and innovate, we will create more things. It's hard to say at the moment.

The comments above about electricity consumption and cement volume are correct, but if progress is what consumes the most resources, they are completely wrong. The whole world is promoting low carbon and sustainability, how can we show off this kind of thing? And these parameters are caused by China's huge foundation. Without 1.4 billion people, how could we have this number? You wouldn't think that 1.4 billion people is a cultural feature worth being proud of, right? At least not something to be proud of.
