The flower umbrella dance is a Chinese folk dance. It is said that the Flower Umbrella Dance dates back to the Tang and Song Dynasties. Later, the Central Song and Dance Ensemble and the Provincial Song and Dance Ensemble adapted the style and borrowed the characteristics of ballet to transform the Flower Umbrella Dance into a classic Chinese folk dance.

Businessmen returned from Jiangsu and Zhejiang along the Huaihe River, bringing back umbrellas from the south of the Yangtze River and holding them up to show off. It is a folk custom to hold an umbrella for the rich, which is very fashionable. In the early days, one umbrella evolved into two umbrellas, and then into three umbrellas. So much so that people have incorporated this into their dances.

There is another saying that it is said that there is a family named Liu in the mall, with one mother and two daughters. After the eldest sister left the cabinet, the second daughter and her mother depended on each other. Whenever the mother went out for business, she always asked her two daughters to stay close to the boudoir, resulting in the two daughters not going out for a trip for 18 years. In 1959, it participated in the performance of the Seventh World Youth Festival in Vienna. Won a silver medal.

From the 1950s to the present, it has evolved into five umbrellas, six umbrellas, or even multiple umbrellas. In particular, the number of umbrella dances organized by the first Xinyang Tea Festival reached 100 umbrellas. A large-scale flower umbrella dance for 120 people was organized at the opening of Zhengzhou East Building Materials World and Textile World.
