"Language affects life!" In order to promote effective English teaching reform, the Ministry of Education has promulgated English Curriculum Standards (Experimental Draft). The curriculum standard also puts forward very clear requirements for the ability of fifth grade (that is, at the end of ninth grade) to achieve English "speaking": being able to understand the teacher's statement on familiar topics and participate in discussions; Be able to exchange information with others on various topics of daily life and state your own views. Therefore, English teaching is bound to shift from the traditional teaching of language knowledge and skills to the cultivation of language communicative competence, and the importance of oral English teaching is increasingly prominent. However, front-line English teachers are well aware that there are many difficulties and problems in oral English teaching, which need to be solved urgently: lack of necessary language environment; There are too many students in the class; There are too few opportunities for students to listen and speak English. English basic skills are not solid enough, which easily leads to students' fear of difficulties and psychological obstacles. So it is difficult for students to speak. In the long run, our oral English teaching has fallen into a vicious circle, and foreign language teaching cannot meet the needs of China's economic and social development. First, change ideas and improve teaching methods.

A foreign teaching expert once said: "Successful foreign language classroom teaching should create more scenes in the classroom, so that students have the opportunity to use the language materials they have learned." Our students live in a non-English communication environment, and English class is the main position to improve their oral English. Teachers should change their teaching concepts and really pay attention to oral English teaching. In class, we should change teachers' teaching into students' learning, adhere to monolingual teaching and cultivate students' habit of thinking in English. Teachers must insist on speaking English and guide students to do a lot of language practice activities to consolidate language knowledge and master language skills.

Second, emotional participation, teacher-student interaction

The new curriculum requires interaction between teachers and students, which means more communication between teachers and students. Teachers should strive to create an equal, harmonious, relaxed and democratic classroom environment through communication, so that students can be infected by teachers and give full play to their initiative and enthusiasm, which is helpful to realize the interaction between teachers and students.

By listening to students' tapes, we can also find problems such as pronunciation and intonation, which is of great significance to improve oral English teaching.

4. English Festival

In order to create an atmosphere for students to learn English, expand the environment for students to acquire English, and build a platform for students to show, we hold campus English festivals every year, with rich and colorful contents: English storytelling contest, speech contest, recitation contest ... The connotation of English festivals is constantly expanding, the scope is constantly expanding, and the forms are becoming more and more diverse. English Festival has gradually evolved into a comprehensive activity to enliven the cultural atmosphere of the whole school and show the achievements of English teaching and students' all-round English learning ability. These activities are ordered again and again.

Burning students' passion for speaking English is an extension of after-school classroom and an expansion of after-school classroom.

Fourth, pay attention to differences and coordinate development.

Highlighting students' subjectivity and respecting individual differences is one of the basic concepts of English curriculum standards. Hymes believes that human ability should include two aspects: knowledge and use. In oral English teaching, teachers should fully understand students, consider students' personality differences, adopt different methods according to students' different personalities and characteristics, and carry out targeted teaching to cultivate and improve students' oral expression ability respectively. "Focus on the middle and give consideration to both ends", so that students at all levels can do their best, enjoy the fun brought by happy learning, and develop their communicative competence in a coordinated way according to their actual level.

Fifth, do a good job in evaluation and tap the potential.

Quality education is for all students, but there is an objective differentiation among junior high school students. In view of this phenomenon, the English Curriculum Standard has made the following statement on students' evaluation: pay attention to process evaluation and promote students' development. In order to achieve the maximum effect of English teaching, we must take different measures according to the individual differences of students' psychology. Therefore, in teaching, I implement grading evaluation, divide students' oral English into four grades: A, B, C and D, and put forward different requirements for students of each grade, which is helpful to eliminate the excessive psychological pressure brought by scores. The performance evaluation system is based on students' actual performance level, which can improve students' interest in learning and maximize their intellectual potential.

Six, enter the exam, cultivate ability.

In order to improve students' English application ability in an all-round way, in recent years, we have been insisting on adding oral exams to stage exams and final exams. The mid-term and final oral examinations are arranged before the written examination. The exam is divided into everyday language, recording imitation and topic. Tape recording is decided by drawing lots for new concept English, which mainly examines students' imitation ability and pronunciation and intonation. Topics are also selected by students from five designated topics, and prepared for a few minutes, mainly to examine students' communicative competence in simulated scenes. The teacher synthesizes the oral test scores at ordinary times, in the middle period and at the end of the term, and obtains the oral test scores for the school year. Oral test effectively stimulates students' enthusiasm for practicing oral English at ordinary times, improves students' oral ability and cultivates their language application ability.

Seven. Develop resources and remove obstacles

"English Curriculum Standards" mentioned that English curriculum should strive to make rational use of and actively develop curriculum resources to provide students with healthy and rich curriculum resources that are close to life and the times. At the same time, it is necessary to help students broaden their horizons by expanding their exposure to foreign cultures, so that they can improve their sensitivity and ability to distinguish the similarities and differences between Chinese and foreign cultures, thus improving their cross-cultural communication ability. In school-based curriculum, we try our best to help students eliminate cultural barriers and make oral English teaching closer to local culture. Of course, the cultivation of oral English ability is not achieved overnight, and it needs every English teacher to practice it in a down-to-earth manner.
