My experience is not to memorize words for the sake of memorizing them. You may not remember them, but it is easy to forget them. Besides, you may not know what you mean in the exam. Read more foreign languages, pick out unfamiliar words and memorize them repeatedly. This will not only exercise your reading ability, but also improve your vocabulary.

My English teacher taught me this method and said it would work wonders if I persisted. This method was painful at first, really, there were words I didn't know within three sentences, but it was good to stick to it later.
