Spotlight effect

Spotlight effect

Explanation:

Spotlight effect, also known as spotlight effect, is a psychological term put forward by Jilovic and Savisky in 1999. Sometimes we always inadvertently magnify our problems infinitely. When we make a fool of ourselves, we always think that people will notice. Actually, it's not like this. People may have noticed it at that time, but they will forget it immediately afterwards. No one will care about themselves like you.

Its performance is that we generally overestimate the attention of others to us. In other words, we care so much about the impression we make on others that we tend to think that others pay more attention to us than they actually do.

Example:

For example, if you fall down on the road, your first reaction may be more shame than pain. You think at least half the people on the road are watching your jokes. But in fact, few people noticed it at all. Even if they saw it at that time, they quickly ignored it, far from your big social death.

We are always troubled by others' opinions and comments on ourselves, but we ignore that everyone's attention is limited. More importantly, they think that it is themselves who stand in the spotlight with great probability. Because each of us habitually thinks that we are the center of the world and naively exaggerates our importance.
