Introduction to Jingmen Dialect

Among the seven dialect areas of Chinese, Jingmen dialect in Hubei belongs to the southwest dialect area of the northern dialect area. The northern dialect spread to Jingmen area (including Zhongxiang, Jingshan and Shayang) through the ancient roads of Han Jing and Xiang Jing, which had a far-reaching influence on Jingmen dialect. Therefore, there is little difference between Jingmen dialect and standard northern dialect-Mandarin, that is, Mandarin in a broad sense. The initials, finals and tones of Jingmen dialect are similar to those of Mandarin, but there are also some differences.
