Junior two composition: What should I do when I sleep in class?

From 1979 to 1980, two freshmen in the political science department of Columbia University are always listless in class. After reading this story, I can't help thinking that in the classroom of our vocational school, the phenomenon of "yawning all the time, dreaming on my desk" and "sleeping soundly" can be seen everywhere. Are there any future "engineers", "accountants" and "senior technicians" among these students? I think there must be. In this case, how should we treat this phenomenon? The above story tells us that all students who sleep in class are not mediocre, so why do they sleep in class? The short answer is: because the teacher's class is not attractive. Then, if the teacher has a strong attraction in class, will there be no students sleeping? Whatever the reason, how should we educate and manage students who sleep in class? As educators, we should think deeply about all these problems.

I think there are several problems that students need to understand when they sleep in class:

First, no matter what class, no matter how excellent the teacher is, there are always students sleeping in class. In other words, it is an objective phenomenon for students to sleep in class, which is independent of our will. The difference is that in some classes, students sleep little or even almost nothing, while in some classes, students sleep a lot. In fact, it goes without saying that the students are in class. We can often see on TV that some delegates are sleepy at some very important meetings. As teachers, I'm afraid we all know clearly that when attending some school meetings, the host or principal will always criticize some teachers for not obeying discipline in the meetings, and when criticizing this phenomenon, they often take "you don't want students to sleep in class, so you shouldn't sleep in the meetings" as a fact.

I don't say this to excuse the students who sleep in class. I just want to say that sleeping is a physiological phenomenon of a person in the final analysis, and it is very difficult for you to let a person who is not sleepy sleep. I have seen a funny picture sent by a friend: two students-like boys and a baby stand in a row at the penalty station, but the reasons for the penalty station are completely opposite. The title of the picture is "penalty station for sleeping, penalty station for not sleeping". I also read a joke that the teacher got angry when he saw two students in the same seat falling asleep. He woke up one of the students (who usually had poor academic performance) and said, Look at you, can you fall asleep with a book? Look at others (referring to another sleeping classmate in the same place, who usually gets excellent grades). He is still sleeping with a book in his hand!

Second, students who sleep in class always have certain reasons, or sleeping is the best choice for these students. Unless we can give them a better choice and make them give up sleeping.
