Is the western understanding of "democracy" inherently undemocratic?

Westerners' concept of democracy is: there is democracy when there are votes.

Either way, we have to vote.

This is their idea and understanding, but ... this has nothing to do with democracy.

Democracy has a principle that the minority is subordinate to the majority, but that is only a principle, not the result of your vote, so it is called democracy.

There is a word called tyranny of the majority, which means that most people use collective decision-making to forcibly deprive the rights and interests of a few people, even their lives. It was a farce and riot that followed the trend.

So you can see that the Italian referendum, Britain's withdrawal from the EU, the ugly ending ... it's ridiculous to leave the fate of the country to the so-called voting democracy.
