Day and night are an agreement.
The word of the LORD came to Jeremiah, saying, "Thus says the LORD: If you break my covenant between day and night, so that day and night are not punctual, you will break my covenant with my servant David, so that he will have no son to reign on his throne; You can also break my Covenant with the priests and Levites who serve me. There are countless things in the sky, and the dust and sand by the sea cannot be measured; So I will increase the children of my servant David and the Levites who serve me. 」
(Jeremiah 33:65438)
In our life, we will meet many appointments, such as making an appointment with friends, signing a labor contract with the company, and getting someone to get a marriage certificate. In daily life and work, these documents and vouchers, such as buying and selling, leasing and giving, can actually be called appointments, which exist in all aspects of us in various forms.
Spiritually, when we spend months and months, we show all kinds of vows of eternal love, which is also a promise, although we will call it a promise, oath and so on. Although even if this person breaks the contract later, we still hope that the other party will say these words when the feelings are strong, as if it were like putting a red seal on the contract in black and white, and watching with joy and peace of mind.
In essence, when I sign the sales agreement, all the conditions in the value exchange immediately take effect in the contract and are fixed in the form of the contract. When the business is done, the money will fall into the bag, and people's hearts will be at ease. In the future, perhaps the money in this transaction will exist in other contracts in various forms.
We have various expectations for the contract itself. When signing the purchase contract, we were faced with the property right of only 70 years, hoping that the house price would rise sharply. When we get a marriage certificate, we say forever to those who often don't live to be 100 years old; Even the angry young people in naked resignation have a beautiful imagination about the labor contract signed at that time. However, we often seem to forget to think about the biggest agreement between heaven and earth.
In the Bible, the Covenant runs through, and even the Bible is divided into the New Testament and the Old Testament. These covenants are based on the earliest covenant, that is, the LORD made a covenant with Adam that Adam should not eat of the fruit of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. Under the temptation and encouragement of the snake, Eve ate the fruit of the tree of good and evil. At this time, people have not fallen, because it was not Eve who made the Covenant, but Adam. But when Adam, the ancestor of mankind and the main body of the Covenant, ate the fruit of the tree of separation of good and evil, mankind unilaterally destroyed the Covenant. So I died and left the Garden of Eden.
Later, God made many covenants with mankind and passed on the details of these covenants to mankind, but what impressed me most was the "Rainbow Covenant".
The words in the Bible are as follows:
God said to Noah and his sons, "I will make a Covenant with you and your descendants, as well as all the creatures here, including birds, livestock, wild animals and all the creatures that come out of the ark." I have made a covenant with you, and all flesh will no longer be destroyed by the flood, nor will the flood destroy this land again. God said, This is the sign of an everlasting covenant between me and you and all the living creatures here. I put the rainbow in the clouds as a sign of my Covenant with the earth. When I cover the earth with clouds, rainbows will appear in the clouds, so that I can remember my Covenant with you and all living things, and the water will no longer overflow and destroy all living things. The rainbow will appear in the clouds, and as soon as I see it, I will remember my eternal Covenant with all kinds of creatures on the earth. " 17
(Genesis 9:8- 16 and NIV)
Therefore, the "Rainbow Covenant" is an eternal Covenant, a condescension, and a Covenant made between God and all creatures on the earth that will not be destroyed by floods again, and the rainbow is the symbol of this Covenant. So whenever you can really see the rainbow, it is estimated that many Christians will feel the eternity and divinity of God.
A long time ago, I read something like this, without the Lord's command, we would not even see the sun tomorrow, but where this sentence came from, I am very vague. Until today, I read the Bible and read the first paragraph of the article, and I felt suddenly enlightened.
It turns out that day and night are promises, protection and saving, signs of love, and evidence of grace and commitment. The Covenant between day and night cannot be broken, so the Covenant between God and David cannot be broken, nor can the Covenant of David's son sitting on the throne be broken. This is why the Covenant between Boaz and Ruth cannot be broken, and this is why the Covenant between Jesus' coming into the world and our ultimate salvation cannot be broken.
Suddenly, I think I'm not too worried about seeing the sun again tomorrow, although people who are prone to depression prefer the night. The reason for not worrying is that I know that dividing light into darkness and dividing day into night are all agreements, grace, glory and blessings. Amen!
