Prayer is a classic Buddhist philosophical story.
At that time, Mazu Yi Dao and Xi Shi moved to share the Zen family's world equally, and * * * shared the world students. Yaoshan was originally a student who wanted to move stones. One day, Yaoshan asked the stone to move the stone: "I still have a general understanding of the truth." I really don't understand the statement that the purpose of Zen is to' point directly at people's hearts and see nature become Buddha'. Please ask Master to give me some advice. " The stone hopes to move: "No, it's wrong not to do it. It's always wrong not to do it. What do you do?" Yaoshan is at a loss. The stone moved: "Your karma is not here. Go and find Master Ma." Yaoshan was strictly taught by the teacher and respectfully went to worship a Zen master on Mazu Road. The same question. Mazu said, "Sometimes he is taught to raise his eyebrows and blink, sometimes he is not taught to raise his eyebrows and blink, sometimes he raises his eyebrows and blinks, and sometimes he is not. How do you understand it? " Yaoshan heard an epiphany and prayed to Mazu. Mazu said, "When you see something, just bow down and thank you?" Yao Shanwei said: "I move a stone to hit the teacher's place, just like a mosquito bites an iron cow." Mazu said, "since you understand this, you should take good care of it."
One day, Wei Yan in Yaoshan was meditating. When Zen master Shi saw it, he asked, "What are you doing here?" But Yan Yan replied, "Nothing." The stone said, "This is just sitting." Wei Yan said, "If you sit down, you will make a difference." The stone asked again, "What do you mean by doing nothing?" But Yan Yan replied: "A thousand saints don't know."
Once, Master Yan was meditating, and the monk asked him, "Master, what are you thinking about sitting there?" The Zen master replied, "Think about this." The monk asked inexplicably, "How can you think if you don't think about it?" But Yan Yan said, "I have to think about it."
One evening, Zen master Wei Yan was hiking and walking when suddenly the clouds cleared and the moon was exposed. The Zen master couldn't help laughing. Laughter can still be heard ten miles around. The next morning, someone asked, and the monk said, "The monk was laughing at the top of the mountain last night."
The secretariat of Li Ao heard about this matter and wrote a poem for Wei Yan in Yaoshan:
I chose to live in seclusion, and I was not sent all the year round and was not welcome.
Sometimes I go straight to the top of the lonely peak and the clouds roar under the moon.
2 Zen case-solving: the first meaning of the Holy Way
When Father Dharma came to China, the first thing he did was to see Liang Wudi. Liang Wudi was the first Buddhist emperor in China. He is the 25th grandson of Xiao He (Xiao He was the prime minister of Emperor Gaozu Liu Bang), and his name is Xiao Yan. He built many monks, towers, temples and statues filled with gold. He also wore cassock and told the shining Prajna Sutra, which was called the Buddha's Buddha. So Dharma went to see him first.
The emperor asked: What is the first meaning of the imperial edict? Mo yue: the outline is not holy!
As soon as Liang Wudi saw the Buddhism, he asked the most mysterious extreme question in this doctrine: What is the first meaning of the sacred truth? Jiujiu Dharma. I just know that monks in this world can't jump out of the circle of vulgarity, holiness, truth and vulgarity. When it reaches the master's hand, it will break when it is pinched. Dharma replied: "The outline is not holy!" If we are recommended under this sentence, we will go home and sit still, eat hungry, sleep tired and enjoy it. There is no need to distinguish between right and wrong here.
The "outline" is vast, boundless, clear and boundless, motionless and unshakable. This means that our mind is like a void, huge and empty. "No holiness", since it is as bright and clear as the sky, there is nothing. Of course, there is nothing without sacredness. However, it should be noted that although there is nothing, who knows this? Master Dharma showed Liang Wudi this indescribable and unparalleled beauty sincerely and skillfully. It's a pity to be blind. Emperor Wu only knows how to hold the Tao, saying that all Tao is sacred, and he doesn't know the mind. I don't know who didn't say anything and who said something, but I missed it face to face. A Zen master is like an expert in dancing Tai 'an Sword. With a flick of his hand, he will cut off all the saints, true customs and other kudzu vines in your heart and show you the way. All sentient beings have the wisdom and virtue of Tathagata, but they are fascinated by the melody and don't know it. If they can let go of everything and not move with the melody, it will be as beautiful and sincere as the vast void. Where can there be saints?
Although there is nothing, unlike wood and stone, it is very clear. Who knows this? This is the wonderful and sincere idea that Master Dharma guided Liang Wudi to see the Tao at that time. If we look at photos and have a sacred view in our hearts, we can't see the Tao, and we can only enter the Tao if we are separated from each other.
Therefore, Father Dharma said that "the side is not sacred". On the other hand, Liang Wudi is a photogenic person. If there is no holiness on the side, isn't it a failure that there is no holiness at all? But people say you are a saint! Why are there no saints?
So the emperor asked: who is it to me? Mo said: I don't know.
Liang Wudi focused on "sacredness" and ignored the most important word "outline", so he asked, "Who is it to me?" I thought I got the point now. You said "unholy". So, who is standing opposite?
This sentence has two meanings: who is standing opposite me and who is talking to me? Liang Wudi's original intention is only the first priority. Who is standing opposite me? But Zongdi was not like this, but took the second place and asked who he could tell this. Just as we meditate now and ask: Who is chanting Buddha? Who is dragging the body? Who's talking? Who listens? This "who" is weighty, like asking a question, but it directly indicates that you see sex. This sentence is not so easy to answer. If you don't meet someone who has sex, you can't help staring, being at a loss and not knowing where to fall. However, the founder of Buddhism is a master. He knows that you are the first to ask for justice, and a dead horse is a living horse doctor. He insisted on asking righteousness for the second time and replied, "I don't know." Master Dharma's answer is really suspected of killing. You are the master of enlightenment. How can you say you don't know?
The word "ignorance" seems obscure on the surface, but in fact it is a word that shows who he really rewards. Is there anything you can ask and answer? Is there anything to compare? Nothing can be done. Who knows who it is? When we open the primitive, no material and spiritual world, just a virtual light, no color, no opposite two, who knows who? This "ignorance" is like a thousand fates. If you can get it, you will realize it now. If you rashly assume that you don't know about the meeting, you're talking too much.
If the emperor didn't agree, Dharma crossed the river to Wei.
Although Liang Wudi believed in Buddhism, Prajna was poor, so "the emperor didn't agree". Zen is associated with people who have taken root, and it is not easy to realize the present by preaching slowly. In two or three questions and answers, the words were inconsistent, so Dharma crossed the river and came to Wei's reeds.
The queen asked Zhigong, and Zhigong said, Does your majesty still know this man? The emperor said: I don't know.
This Liang Wudi went back to the harem to ask Bao Zhigong. Qi Gong asked Liang Wudi: Do you still understand Buddhism? The emperor said, "I don't know."
Zhigong said: This is Master Guanyin, preaching the seal of Buddha's heart.
The emperor regretted it and sent messengers to invite him.
Zi Gong said: Your Majesty Mo Dao sent an invitation and invited China people, but he didn't return!
Bao Zhigong: Needless to say, Your Majesty sent an envoy to invite Father Dharma back. Even if you mobilize the whole country to invite Master Dharma, Master Dharma will not come back. Why is this? Because the founder of Buddhism came to spread the seal of Buddha's heart, and it is predestined friends with all beings. It doesn't require you to provide for it, and it doesn't need fame. As long as a half-enlightened person can accept it, it's just Long Shao Buddhism.
After crossing the river to Wei, the founder of Dharma lived on the wall of Shaolin Temple in Songshan for nine years. He is a master of light. He knows the source of his heart and transmits Buddhism. There are many others in his name, but they only have the flesh and bones of Zen, but they have no bone marrow.
Then, it is so difficult to learn Zen that it is also worth the end of the Buddhist era. Shouldn't the Buddha seeds be cut off? Don't! At the end of the French era, there were people who took root in Buddhism. Many Buddhists believe in Buddhism. As long as you are willing to promote it, Zen will flourish. Because of the great compassion of Buddha and Bodhisattva, as long as you are convinced that you are not lazy, you will stay here every day, stay here, stay here and keep moving forward, and you will have a natural day.
1 One day, a monk and a friend in Tanshan were walking on a muddy road. At this time, it rained heavily. They met a beautiful girl at the corner. The girl can't cross the dirt road because she is wearing a silk dress and a silk belt. "Come on, girl," Tanshan said, and then carried the girl across the dirt road, put it down and hit the road. Along the way, the Taoist friends were silent, and finally they couldn't help asking Tanshan: "We don't get close to women, especially young and beautiful women, which is very dangerous. Why did you do this? " "What? That woman? " Tanshan replied, "I put her down long ago. Do you still hold her? " 2. Everything is empty. Zhou Tie visited famous teachers everywhere. One day, he met the monk Du Yuan in Suoguo Temple. To show his consciousness, he proudly said to Du Yuan, "The heart, Buddha and all sentient beings are empty. The truth of the phenomenon is empty. No enlightenment, no mystery, no holiness, no vulgarity, no charity and no suffering. " At that time, Du Yuan was smoking and didn't answer. But he suddenly erected a chimney and hit the mountain, which made the young Buddhist very angry. "Everything is empty," Du Yuan asked. "Where did you get such a big temper?" It is better to ask someone for help than go to the temple to visit Guanyin Bodhisattva alone. After kowtowing a few times, the man suddenly found that there was a man beside him who was also prostrating himself, looking exactly like the Guanyin Bodhisattva on the altar. The man was puzzled and asked softly, "Are you Guanyin Bodhisattva?" The man replied, "Yes." The man was more puzzled and asked, "Then why did you visit the shrine yourself?" Guanyin Bodhisattva replied: "Because I know that it is better to ask for others than to ask for yourself." A samurai came to a monk's room with a fish in his hand. He said, "Let's make a bet. Is the fish in my hand dead or alive? " Hugh knew that if he said he was dead, the samurai would definitely let go; And if he says it's alive, the samurai will definitely step on the fish secretly. So, a break said, "It's dead." The samurai immediately released his hand and said with a smile, "Ha ha, Zen master, you lost. Look, this fish is alive. " Yixiu smiled faintly and said, "Yes, I lost." Hugh lost, but he saved a real fish. 5. Look at him with a cold face and ask, "Some people in the world slander me, bully me, insult me, laugh at me, despise me, humiliate me and cheat me. What should I do? " Pick him up and say, "bear with him, let him go, avoid him, let him go, bear with him, respect him and ignore him." You will see him in a few years. " 6. A cup of tea Nanyin was a Zen master in Meiji Japan. One day, a university professor came to ask him about Zen, and he only treated him with tea. He poured tea into the guest's cup until it was full, and then continued to pour tea. The professor watched helplessly as the tea overflowed the cup until he could no longer remain silent. Finally, he said, "It has overflowed. Don't pour it again!" " "You are like this cup," Yin Nan replied. "It's full of your own opinions and ideas. How can I tell you Zen if you don't empty your cup first? " 7. Understanding is like reading Buddhist scriptures. * * Asked the Buddha: "I can't see the Elysium you said. How can I believe it? " The Buddha took XX into a dark room and told him, "There is a hammer in the corner." * * No matter whether I stare big or narrow my eyes, I still can't see my fingers, so I have to say I can't see them. The Buddha lit the candle and there was a hammer in the corner. What you can't see doesn't exist?
