April Fool's Day Classic English Jokes

1938, actor Orson Wells announced in a radio program that Martians had landed on the earth. He described where they landed and how they crossed the United States. Wells spoke as if it were true, so that hundreds of people believed him and caused panic all over the country. When the government clarified that the report was a complete prank, thousands of people had fled their homes.

On April Fool's Day, a British journalist announced that there would be no more spaghetti in the world, because Italian farmers no longer grow spaghetti powder. So many people went to the local supermarket to buy spaghetti. When everyone found out it was a joke, the whole country had been robbed of spaghetti.

A famous TV star once invited his girlfriend to be a guest on April Fool's Day and proposed to her. She was surprised and happy because she really wanted to marry him. But when she said "I do", he replied: "You have been cheated!" The result of this little joke is tragic. The TV star lost his girlfriend and job.
