In order to find out how excessive the current MIUI advertisements are, I specially re-flashed the latest stable version of MIUI 7.2.5.0 on my idle Mi 2s yesterday, cleared all user and system settings, and did not install it. Any third-party apps, only system apps and pre-installed apps remain. After flashing the phone, log in to your Xiaomi account, click on each system APP one by one, without doing any setting operation, and enter the screenshots of each system APP to show how crazy the advertisements inside the system APP are now. At the same time, connect the phone to WiFi and let it stand by for 24 hours to see how many messages MIUI will push to me in 24 hours.

1. In the desktop

folder, "Guess You Like" will be opened by default to promote other APPs.

2. Music

Whether it can be turned off manually: No.

3. Weather

The weather main page, drop-down, displays the so-called "weather information", including three modules: "Current Affairs Hot Topics", "Seasonal Health" and "Clothing Matching" .

Advertising position: below the main weather page.

Can it be closed manually: Yes.

Turn off location: Click the three-dot button in the upper right corner, information flow settings, and turn off weather information.

4. Calendar

The calendar month view is pulled down, and ten cards are opened by default, namely "Today's Fortune", "Real-time Hot Topics", "Selected Applications", and "Today's Hot Books" ”, “Today’s beautiful picture”, “Today’s lottery draw”, “Today’s hot show”, “Today’s joke”, “Today’s hot show”, “Today’s health care”.

Advertising position: on the right side of the lunar calendar module, on the card below the calendar month view.

Whether it can be closed manually: The card can be closed manually, but the advertisement corresponding to the lunar calendar module cannot be closed.

Close position: Scroll the month view to the end (about 6-7 screens), click Card Management, and cancel ten cards in sequence.

4. Security Center

Enter the garbage cleanup. After cleaning up the garbage, you will see about 10 screens at the bottom. The settings page only has "Load information only under WLAN". switch.

Advertising position: All advertisements, with notifications of completion of cleaning inserted in the advertisements.

5. Download management

Enter download management. The promoted APP will be displayed at the bottom of the homepage, telling you "Everyone also downloaded XXXX". Swipe TAB to the right to see the "Download List"

6. File management

File management, recent page, displays "popular videos" and "popular emoticons"

7. Search

Swipe up with two fingers to search, and hot words on the Internet will be displayed below.

Ad position: below the search box.

8. SMS

Since there is no SIM card inserted this time, the last picture is taken previously.

Advertising position: Displayed below different text messages based on keywords. Clicking on the green part will jump to an APP download page based on different scenarios.

Can it be closed manually: Yes.

Turn off location: Settings, turn off "Turn on SMS intelligent recognition".

10. Xiaomi Video

As for the ads in Xiaomi Video APP, in fact, my It’s quite understandable. After all, this is an aggregation application. There is nothing wrong with promoting some videos for commercial purposes. But... forget it, just look at the picture.

Whether it can be closed manually: push messages can be closed, but ads in the upper right corner of the card cannot be closed.

An official MIUI Weibo editor said that there are no ads in the Weather APP. Those are weather information. If you don’t want to see them, you can close them manually. It’s hard to imagine that these are words from a company that advertises “the ultimate user experience” and “remains true to its original aspirations.”

For the sake of money, today’s MIUI can place crude or even vulgar advertisements wherever they deem appropriate regardless of the user’s experience (although some of them can be turned off manually, not to mention that the location of the turn off is hidden. How deep, the logic of opening it by default is also disgusting), I think this is not excessive, but disgusting.
