Antoine de Saint-Exupé ry (French pronunciation: [ɑ? twan d？ st？ π ZYPEI]) (June 29th1900-31July 1944) is a French writer and pilot. His most famous works are the novella Le Petit Prince, and books about aviation adventures, including Flying at Night and Wind, Sand and Stars.

Before World War II, he was a successful commercial pilot. When the war broke out, he joined the French Air Force and carried out reconnaissance missions until the armistice with Germany. After writing in America for some time, he joined the Free French Army. He disappeared in a reconnaissance flight over the Mediterranean Sea on July 1944.
