Kassadin's background story:

In the darkest place in the world, Kassadin cut a burning rift, and he knew that his time was numbered. Once a guide and adventurer in Shurima, he chose to settle among the peaceful tribes of Shurima's south—until the day his village was swallowed by the Void.

Kassadin vowed to take revenge, so he integrated many arcane artifacts and forbidden techniques to deal with the dangers ahead. Finally, Kassadin set out for the wastelands of Icathia, ready to face any creature of the void in search of the self-proclaimed prophet, Malzahar.

He found the most arcane weapon known to Valoran, incorporated it into Zaun's original design, and added it with the blessing of the Ionian Soul Healer. He used all his connections, from archaeologists to thieves, and with their help... got what he wanted.

Many called him crazy, thinking this would be the last time they saw his old friend alive - but Kassadin simply thanked them for their concern and said goodbye. He will face the void alone.
