There are several types of harassment against women.

(1) Physical contact: unnecessary contact with or touching other people's bodies, intentional collision, forcibly putting on shoulders or arms, intentionally clinging to others, etc. For example, the opposite sex deliberately clings to the female body in the office, leading to physical contact or collision. (2) Verbal contact: talking about sexual topics unnecessarily and deliberately, asking about personal privacy and sex life, commenting on other people's clothes, appearance and figure, and deliberately telling pornographic jokes and stories. (3) Non-verbal behaviors: whistling or kissing intentionally, body or hand movements with sexual hints, looking at women with ambiguous eyes, and displaying sex-related items, such as pornographic books and posters. For example, whistling or screaming at passing women, or posting pornographic posters in the department.

Article 237 of the Criminal Law of People's Republic of China (PRC) commits the crime of compulsory indecency, insult to women and child molestation, which refers to the act of compulsory indecency or insult to women by violence, coercion or other means, and shall be sentenced to fixed-term imprisonment of not more than five years or criminal detention. Whoever gathers people in public places to fight or commits the crime mentioned in the preceding paragraph shall be sentenced to fixed-term imprisonment of not less than five years. Whoever molests children shall be given a heavier punishment in accordance with the provisions of the preceding two paragraphs.
