Cameroon-Africa is not what you think.
When it comes to tropical rain forests, I believe the first thing that comes to mind is the Amazon rain forest in Latin America.
In fact, the second largest tropical rain forest on earth is located in Africa, on the north and south sides of the equatorial line. Cameroon is one of them. The Sahara desert is in the north, Namibia and Botswana in the southwest have deserts, and most of the rest are covered with green vegetation.
Cameroon borders the Gulf of Guinea in the west, Gabon in the south, Central Africa in the east and Nigeria and Chad in the northwest and north. The elevation is mostly 1000- 1500m, which can be described as a continuous mountain range. Primitive forests and jungles cover the whole territory, and towering trees can be seen everywhere, mainly trees, up to 30-50m high. It is a treasure house of plants, such as coconut trees, palm trees, papaya tree, mango trees, acacia trees, Liriodendron, pine trees and fir trees. Speaking of trees, there is a joke: when I first saw the unique leaves of Liriodendron, I thought it was a unique tree species here. After some painstaking inquiries, it turned out to be an ornamental plant originating in Guangzhou, China. I found it by accident in the domestic community where I live (see the picture below).
Fruits include pineapple, banana, papaya, mango, watermelon and avocado, all of which are very cheap. 10 RMB can buy 5-6 big mangoes. Big bananas are not good to eat raw, so they need to be roasted. They are so sweet that you can eat enough for two people.
Animals include African elephant, grey rhinoceros, Karakal, gorilla, cheetah, forest antelope and mandrill. There are giant pythons with thick bowls, crocodiles and mice as big as pigs in the forest. Chickens and sheep are leisurely foraging by the roadside. But it is difficult to see cattle and horses, because there is a mosquito here that is fatal to large livestock such as cattle and horses.
Cameroon has a population of more than 20 million, a GDP of more than 20 billion US dollars, and a per capita GDP of about 1000 US dollars. It is medium in Africa. The infrastructure is general. There are trains and expressways between big cities. There are 3 international airports and 5 domestic airports in Yaoundé, Douala and Garoua. There are buses and buses in the city, and there are many private cars, mostly low-end cars from Japan and South Korea, and many are used cars. Many streets in the suburbs are still dirt roads.
People here exercise very fast. You can see people exercising in the morning, at night and even during the day. The temperature in June is mostly between 20 and 26 degrees, but many people wear sweatpants and hats to wrap themselves up. After the exercise, I guess my underwear is soaked. I don't understand why this has been handed down. There is also group dance in the park, but it seems to be dominated by young people, unlike in China. Foreigners ride mountain bikes here to keep fit.
There is a big golf course in the embassy district of Yaounde, which is very beautiful.
After reading these, do you want to travel? It is very good to experience nature in Africa, but we must make some strategies. Vaccination to prevent epidemic diseases such as jaundice fever, and artemisinin to prevent malaria. It is necessary to prepare more commonly used drugs.
