How to improve pupils' memory?

Memory can be divided into three types: instantaneous memory, short-term memory and long-term memory. Some memories in life don't need to stay in people's minds for a long time, and some things need to be remembered for a specific time, so it's no harm to forget them later. But some things need to be kept in mind for a long time, and they will be forgotten when studying, which will bring great difficulties to our study, life and work, and even make jokes. When we say enhance memory, we mean the ability to enhance this long-term memory.

Let's look at the opposite of memory: forgetting. How does forgetfulness come about? There are two reasons: first, fading, that is, if you remember some knowledge but don't recall it often, then its impression in your mind will gradually weaken and eventually fade, just like a mass of ink on paper, which will fade and turn white if you don't apply it often; The second is interference, that is, there are too many things in your mind, which often overlap and confuse each other. If you want to recall a problem clearly, it is difficult to find it at once, and you often have to think it over or think about it a little.

In short, memory is both innate and not entirely innate. People's subjective efforts are different, and their memories are also good and bad.

To enhance memory, we must first deal with the relationship between "remembering" and "forgetting", especially in Chinese and English teaching in primary schools. The contradiction between "remembering" and "forgetting" is more prominent. Teachers are required to help students overcome contradictions, enhance their memory and improve their learning effect in teaching activities. I groped for some experience in the previous Chinese teaching in primary schools and summed it up for reference. When learning Chinese in the lower grades of primary school, students have to learn a lot of new words. In order to make students remember the new words taught that day, teachers usually write at least two lines with a new word, or copy a page to force students to remember. When students write, the classroom is quiet, only the rustling of writing. I also let students remember words in this way. Once, I saw that all the students were writing seriously, so I asked a student in a comforting voice, "What did you read when you wrote this word?" The students can't answer. I am puzzled by this teaching method. In the process of writing new words, students pay full attention to writing, and their hands just move mechanically, but their brains don't. This kind of education violates the memory law of the brain, neither remembering nor forgetting, and memory is based on forgetting. In this way, students' memory level is definitely not high. So, I changed my teaching method. First of all, I changed the copying workload, and I wrote one line (8 words) every time I taught a new word. The second is to change the writing order and complete the homework in a vertical way. Write the first word in the first line, then the first word in the second line, until the first word in the last line, and then start writing from the second word in the first line; The third is to break the quiet environment and let students read each new word softly twice before writing; In short, in the process of writing, let students use their brains, move their mouths and start work at the same time. When reading and writing for the first time, students may have a vague impression of new words and forget them. This is a normal law. Only when they forget can they remember them. The students wrote eight new words and remembered them all. In the seven-year Chinese teaching in primary schools, the students I teach have the easiest learning and a solid foundation, and the students' examination classes are always among the best on average.

To enhance students' memory ability, we must master the laws of brain activity. There are five laws: first, the initial adjustment should enable students to overcome the "inertia" of the human body and master the content of learning from shallow to deep; The second is the rule of superiority, which cultivates students' clear learning goals; Third, the motivation is stereotyped, and students are educated to learn more and practice more. "Practice makes perfect" is the truth; Fourth, mosaic activities, learning content, nature or form should be carried out alternately; The fifth is protective inhibition. After studying for about an hour, you should have a rest. To enhance students' memory, we must pay attention to the five laws of brain activity.

In addition to the above five rules of brain use, the memory of middle school students is also different in one day. The strongest time in a day is about an hour before dinner, so students should be mobilized to make full use of this time to recite texts, formulas and words to enhance the memory effect.
