This is a very serious problem, the so-called empty, causal not empty, what is causal not empty? Since cause and effect are not empty, the Tao body should not be called empty. This is a very serious, very serious problem. With the idea of giving logic, the big philosophical problem comes. When Buddhism talks about emptiness, it does not mean that there is no cause and effect. If there is no cause and effect, it is anti-emptiness, wrong and not really inaction.

This question was debated in a big temple in Chengdu, which was in the rear area at that time. Later, many monks and people at home raised this serious question. Someone finally asked me, "Suppose you are enlightened, thoroughly enlightened, and the proof is empty. Is there any cause and effect?" "Of course." "Since it is empty, why is there cause and effect?" "Because emptiness is the cause, and pure nirvana is the fruit." It has cause and effect in itself.

It is also said here that "there is no cause and effect", which is a wrong and biased concept. I think that the proof is empty, and the cause and effect are empty. It seems that as long as I get the word, I don't want to suffer retribution. Everything is relieved, and no one can control me. I won't come unless I come. There is no such thing. This is the basis of Buddhism, so I often tell young students that learning Buddhism should not be too far away, and don't think that Buddhism is very high and deep. Basically, there are only a few words: don't do all kinds of evil, and do all kinds of good. Self-purification is all Buddhism. All Buddhism, past Buddha, present Buddha and future Buddha have all been revealed.

The foundation of Buddhism is based on the relationship between the three worlds of cause and effect, The six great divisions in the wheel of karma and heaven and man, which is the foundation. Even this foundation has not been done well, and it is empty talk to talk about "the origin of sexual emptiness, the origin of sexual emptiness" and what the five yin and eighteen realms are. It's called moving mice. It's all about moving around. Therefore, when we look at the ordinary articles of Buddhism, we turn them over and turn them over again. Twelve karma, the eighteenth world, six roots and six dust, and the dream is empty. This is too basic to turn over and roll. I believe that if we take an exam, we will not understand the relationship between the three worlds of heaven and man and each layer of heaven, that is, the relationship between this universe and other life outside the earth in the universe. I can't remember the names of heaven and earth in the Three Realms, and I can't tell the relationship between the classification of the Desire Realm, the Color Realm and the Achromatic Realm and our practice, such as meditation and preaching, and its level and degree. There is no basis for this Buddhism. Moreover, the real Buddhism is these four sentences. When we open the precepts of Buddhist scriptures, almost every important place in the precepts cannot be separated from this precept: don't do evil, and all the good will pursue it. Self-purification is all Buddhism. Therefore, the enlightenment of all Buddhas is basically like this, four words: self-purification.

There are six tables in one * * *, all of which are old monks. Will you go? I said, of course, I'm going. At best, I'm decapitated, and monks don't kill people.

On that day, when we had dinner, everything was fine. The abbot was very polite and asked me to sit in the highest position, even my teacher sat in the next seat. After dinner, the old monk asked me to speak, and now it started. All the people here can ask questions. Fortunately, I can handle it. Finally, the old monk asked a question:

"Is it empty to prove that there is no life to endure?" I replied, "Yes."

"Is there any cause and effect when it is empty?" I said, "Of course."

"How can emptiness have cause and effect?" I said, "emptiness is the cause, and nirvana is the result."

The old monk sat down and stopped talking. This was finally passed, and the old monk was merciful. He was afraid that I would "dial no cause and effect" when I realized emptiness, which was very serious.

all causes are born, and the origin is empty. Since sex is empty, why should I learn Buddhism? One thing is neither empty nor empty, "the cause of good and evil will not die." Since there is no me and no receiver, then you say: I might as well do evil. It's not dogma that forbids you, it's karma! You said: what karma is there when it is empty? Free business! Empty is cause and effect; Empty is the cause, and the result is pure. Similarly, the fruits of good and evil will not be lost. When we understand these truths, we will understand that "we can be good at distinguishing the various legal phases and stay in the first place."

Don't move before hiding: the eighth realization of Alaye is followed by the seventh realization. Before the eighth motionless place, Bodhisattva practitioners cut off my holding on to the seeds, and the last knowledge was no longer regarded as me by the eighth knowledge, so as to give up the role of holding on to Tibet. The great circle is made without scale at the same time: the eighth Araya is as fine as the Tathagata, and it turns into a great circle of mirror wisdom, which is the turn of the fruit; Because all the seeds of the phase have become wisdom-free, it is called knowledge-free. This spotless achievement was initiated by Great Circle Mirror Wisdom. At this point, because of the fruit, the fruit is due to the cause, there is no causal phase, there is causal use. This is exactly what Zen master Baizhang said, a man who has become a Taoist does not know cause and effect. Please refer to the case of saying the wrong word, mistaking it for "not falling into cause and effect" and falling into the wild fox body for 5 years.

In the ten-square dust brake, when Arya's consciousness turned into great round mirror wisdom, he borrowed the sayings of the Book of Changes and Taoism, and his mind turned into pure yang. Later, the names of Lv Chunyang and Zhang Chunyang came from this. The seeds that have no dirt and knowledge have been exhausted, but they are the body of infinite merit, that is, the dharma bodies of all Buddhas. And the light of the great round mirror, which is often silent, shines on the world of ten sides and makes the future universal.

Lecture on Zen

Cause and effect are about major principles, and every cause must have consequences. However, there is a big discussion about this cause and effect. For example, the Dragon Tree Bodhisattva later wrote "On the Middle". On the surface, he saw that he overthrew the cause and effect, all of which were empty, but actually there was cause and effect.

When I closed down in Emei Mountain and went to Chengdu, a group of big monks, eight or nine of them, were as powerful as the old monk Xu Yun. When they invited me to dinner at Wenshu Hospital, they asked me about the cause and effect of Buddhism. When it comes to the case of Zen Buddhism, there is a word difference, and the wild fox body is 5 years old. Then an old monk asked, did the Buddha jump out of cause and effect? I said, of course, it's still within the cause and effect. Cause and effect don't matter if they jump out, they don't go out, they don't go in, that is, they are empty, which proves that Bodhi is the cause, and entering the silence is the result, and the cause and effect are clear.

Causality is a big principle, and the function of causality is karma, so the word "karma" in China is particularly good, and the Chinese translation of Buddhist scriptures is extremely good. Fate is climbing, a chain of relationships. For example, this is someone's third child, and he must have a boss's second child on it. If this is old four, there must be three more on it. It's chained one by one.

This involves an important topic of not knowing cause and effect, not falling cause and effect, and not living cause and effect. The most famous case of Zen: the case of Zen master Baizhang's statement, I would like to mention it to you again.

Zen master Baizhang goes to class every day, and when he goes to class, he will talk about it. Now, let's talk about class. The old monk stipulated to attend classes every afternoon, which is the Buddha's system. When the Buddha was alive, he said it in the afternoon, about three or four o'clock in the afternoon now. "Diamond Sutra" says that Buddha's almsgiving, eating, getting mud on his feet and coming back to wash his feet are not lotus flowers step by step. If the lotus flowers go out for almsgiving step by step, that Buddha is not unusual! He is an ordinary man, and his feet are on the mud. When he goes back, he still washes the bowl, washes his feet and sits on the seat. He sets his seat and pulls his clothes on it. How plain the Buddha described in the Diamond Sutra is! Others step by step and shine on the top. When they come out, they will scare people to death! Every day, the Buddha meditates after meals, and it is decided at about two o'clock. Later, it became a Buddhist rule, and most of the lectures were held at this time.

Zen master Baizhang attends class every day, and an old man with white hair, eyebrows and white beard listens for several years. Baizhang said that there are many people who listen at home and become monks, and they don't care about him. One day, the old monk was in a good mood. Maybe the old man left last. Baizhang asked, "You seem to have listened for several years. What did you learn?" The old man knelt down and said, "Master! I am not a human being, I am a fox spirit and a fox spirit. " It is said that animal cultivation must first become a person, and it takes several turns to change a person. It is very pitiful! He said: "I was a monk 5 years ago, and people asked me a question: Does it matter if pedestrians are overhauled?" (In other words, can you jump to cause and effect? ) I replied at that time: overhaul pedestrians do not fall into cause and effect. This sentence is wrong, and I don't know where it is wrong, but the results will become fox spirits and wild fox spirits. (Therefore, later generations call people "stop fox Zen", which leads to it.) I can't get rid of the results of the beast's way, and I beg the old monk to be merciful and give me relief. "

According to the Buddhist scriptures, the Buddha sat on the ground one day, and suddenly a thorn grew on the ground and stabbed his foot (Sakyamuni Buddha is an Indian, barefoot, unlike us monks who wear socks to wrap his foot well). He jumped up and removed his foot, and the thorn followed, so the Buddha jumped into the air with his magical power, and the thorn followed, until it bled, and it was all right. The disciples of the Buddha asked what was going on. The Buddha said that it was karma. In the past, he did something in his life. Although he became a Buddha now, the karma turned lighter, but he should bleed back, so he will bleed this time. Bleeding is as painful as the red blood when Jesus was crucified. When people meditate for four times, the blood will be creamy and painless. Buddha doesn't know cause and effect.

so, when the old man asks, he answers, oh! When he realized this, he asked Zen Master Baizhang to lead his disciples and take the cassock to the back cave the next day to find his body. Instead of treating him like an animal, he should treat him like an old monk and melt away when he died. On the second day, Baizhang led all his disciples to see a fox as big as a calf in Houdong. No matter what the fruit of its 5-year-old wild fox was, it was put on cassock and burned as an old monk.

"Knowing that the Prajna has no purpose of life", and not knowing the words of cause and effect, most ordinary people are "ignorant". When we talk about ignorance of conscience, it is this ignorance. Generally, it is misspelled as "nothing" in the vernacular. The shadow is covered, and it is this truth that "knowing the prajnaparamita is the purpose of no life", forgetting the truth that cause and effect are born but not born, empty but not empty, not empty and empty, so it is not so simple to talk about empty. Empty and not empty, not empty and empty, and later evolved into a joke of answering or not answering, so don't tell it.
