Is Plato's famous saying about giving up and persisting nonsense?

After the test of time, whether a thing should persist or give up may have an answer.

Even if you can't judge whether to persist or give up for a while, even if you don't know whether to persist or give up, you will still make a choice: persist or give up. If you succeed and get happiness, it may mean that your choice is correct. If there is no ending, it may mean that your choice is wrong.

But not everything in the world can be measured by value or not. There is no real value, no understanding of the whole world. As long as your heart is still satisfied and happy, it may still show that your choice is correct.

Should I give up or insist? That's why Plato said that the most regrettable thing is to give up what I shouldn't have given up.

Sticking to what should not be adhered to is a great tragedy. Life seems to be a joke.
