"Awakening Words" is a collection of short stories in vernacular compiled by Feng Menglong, a writer in the late Ming Dynasty. The book was first published in the seventh year of Qi tomorrow (1627). The themes may come from folk facts, historical biographies and stories from the Tang and Song Dynasties. Except for a few old works from the Song and Yuan Dynasties, most of them are works from the Ming Dynasty, and some are imitations by Feng. The novels in the book have vivid images, substantial and complete structures, and delicate descriptions, which reflect the social outlook and citizens' thoughts and feelings at that time to varying degrees. But some works contain feudal preaching, karma propaganda and pornographic rendering.

"Eternal Words to Awaken the World", together with the author's previously published "Essays to Tell the World" and "Words to Warn the World", are collectively known as "Three Words"; it is also generally combined with Ling Shuchu's "The Surprise at the First Carving of the Case" "Two moments of shooting and surprising" are also called "three words and two shootings".

"Awakening the World" is a collection of vernacular short stories compiled by Feng Menglong in the late Ming Dynasty. This book contains 40 pieces of Huahua and imitated Huahua versions since the Song and Yuan Dynasties. These stories come in different styles, some come from historical biographies, some come from historical notes and novels, and the most fundamental sources are directly from folklore stories and actual life in society. Through these storylines and characters, the author reflects the social life and people's wishes at that time from different angles and to varying degrees. It is rich in content, some reflecting love and marriage; some praising feudal officials and exposing the darkness of officialdom; some praising chivalry and denouncing ingratitude. The plot of the story is bizarre and twists, the characters have distinctive personalities and are full of interest.

Among the 40 stories in the book, there are fewer old works from the Song and Yuan Dynasties than "Yu Shi Ming Yan" and "Warning Words for the World", accounting for about one-sixth. The ones confirmed to be old works from the Song and Yuan Dynasties include "Xiao Shui Wan" "Tianhu Yishu", "Erlang Shen's Documents for Exploring Leather Boots", "Amorous Zhou Shengxian in Naofan Tower", "Jin Hailing's Death in Indulgence", "Zheng Jieshi's Meritorious Service with Divine Arm Bow", "Fifteen Jokes Turned into Clever Disasters" and other chapters. Among them, the two works "Nao Fan Lou Sentimental Zhou Shengxian" and "Fifteen Jokes Turn into Misfortune" are among the best works in the entire Song and Yuan scripts. Most of the rest are Ming Dynasty scripts and imitation scripts.
