Do you think being naive is a good thing?

Innocence is something that people originally have, but they will lose it later. This quality is something that many people, including myself, cannot lose. Let me start by saying that I am an innocent person and everyone around me, friends, family, even animals, notices this and praises me for it. As a junior in high school, I can tell you how shocking it is that I'm still innocent at this age and people think that's a good thing. I started thinking that being clean in high school was a bad thing, but everyone kept proving me wrong.

My friends in school consisted of people who had a real sense of humor and knew how to meme and make jokes and, well, make game jokes. I'm not a gamer myself, but I do find them interesting. As for memes, I laugh at them, but I can't add to them for fear that my naivety will ruin everything. The reason is that I don’t know much about many things, and sometimes the jokes my friends make tend to overwhelm me. My friends tried to protect my innocence in many ways, including telling me not to read, watch, or do certain things. For example, I was told not to watch the Marvel movie Deadpool, but guess what I did? I watched it because 1) I felt like I was the only one who would never watch it; 2) It's the weirdest reason that whenever someone tells me not to do something, if I actually get a fair chance, I will feel better.

Is a child’s innocence a good thing? Yes, I would say yes. Is an adult's innocence a good thing? I would say no. There's nothing particularly scary about a baby's incompetence, because, well, how could it be? No one would really question that, unless you're referring to it in a playful way between two young adult lovers. I think that's not what we mean here. I think what we're really focusing on is the innocence of adults, and the main difference here is that newborns don't have the inevitable chance of experiencing hardship, while adults might. Specifically, the innocent adult appears to be a reluctant individual who is unwilling to further experience the hardships and difficulties associated with coping with the horrors of the world. So if we’re talking about innocence being a good thing in and of itself, how could it not be? You are still "innocent", then innocence itself cannot be a good thing within you.
