Liu Shaolin was born in Budapest on June 1965. His father Liu Shilin is a businessman and painter from Tianjin, China, while his mother is Hungarian. Liu Shaolin also has a younger brother, Liu Shaoang, who is two years younger than him.
Father Liu Shilin, 1977 was admitted to Tianjin Academy of Fine Arts, and 1990 went to settle in Hungary. Short track speed skating is not popular in Hungary. However, at the 2006 Hungarian Short Track Speed Skating World Cup, they met the leader of China's short track team. With his help and advice, the two brothers went to Changchun to train and compete under the guidance of coach Zhang Jing. And their proficiency in Northeast dialect is the result of training.
After the speed training in China, the two brothers grew very well and showed amazing strength when they arrived in Hungary. Under their recommendation, coach Zhang Jing became the head coach of the Hungarian national team 20 12.
On February 22nd, 20 18, Hungarian Liu Shaolin crossed the finish line. In the men's 5000-meter relay final of short track speed skating held at Gangneung Ice rink, Hungary won the championship with a score of 6 minutes 3 1 sec 97 1, and set a new Olympic record. He, his younger brother Liu Shaoang and two other teammates won the gold medal in the men's 5000-meter relay in PyeongChang Winter Olympics, which was Hungary.
