Giant panda is an animal in Xiong Ke, which belongs to Xiong Ke-Giant Panda Subfamily-Giant Panda-Giant Panda species, and belongs to the same family as black bear, brown bear and polar bear.

For decades, the precise classification of giant pandas has been controversial because it has some similar characteristics with bears and raccoons. However, by studying the genetic code (DNA) of the giant panda, scientists confirmed that the giant panda is a real bear and a part of Xiong Ke. Giant pandas are similar to other bears in appearance, walking and climbing, skull characteristics, important social systems and reproductive biology.

Feeding characteristics

Although giant pandas also have the potential for carnivores to eat meat, they rarely prey on animals or animal carcasses. This is not because it doesn't like meat, but because it lacks opportunities.

Because there are few large carnivores in the distribution area of giant pandas, there are not many residual corpses left for them to eat. If it often catches mice and other small animals, the nutrition it gets is often not enough to compensate for the energy it consumes.

Therefore, giant pandas can only eat a little meat occasionally, and most of the time they rely on bamboo to maintain their lives step by step, becoming a life-long animal that follows the rules and eats bamboo.
