How to teach yourself fashion design?

Before signing up for the clothing training class, I read some posts similar to my situation and wrote to some people privately, hoping to learn about this information.

Feedback is mostly divided into two aspects;

Some people just stay at the stage of asking questions, and have not taken a step to really enter this field.

Some people have indeed studied fashion design, but the overall feedback is not very optimistic.

Give a representative feedback:

"I spent the last year studying. Basically, 90% mainly study clothing technology and plate making knowledge. This part of the design is relatively water.

If you want to study as a hobby, it is recommended to go to night school, which will not affect your work during the day.

If you want to aim at your career, it seems that training courses alone are not effective at present.

If you just want to make clothes, it is recommended to study abroad if possible, and then you need to prepare a portfolio before going out.

At present, the domestic clothing employment situation is relatively bad, and the work content is also very boring. You can go to the forum to understand the current situation of the domestic industry. Besides, I don't know if you have an art foundation, unless you are particularly self-disciplined and have a special feeling for clothes. Otherwise, it is not recommended that you take this career path. "

Then I asked her for advice on the choice of training courses, and her feedback was:

Liking design and being able to design well are two concepts. You have to learn basic skills and design within one year, so it is more important to lay the foundation. This is a great gain for me, but it is not enough to become a professional player. The key is time and specialty. If you want to take the road of clothing as the basis, then don't continue until you are ready for loneliness and pain. Enthusiasm alone is not enough, and technology alone is not enough. Many people have no choice but to do this business, or it has become a mechanical operation.

In any case, learning the most basic part is the key. Fabric knowledge, technology and plate making are the foundation of clothing people. Maybe we don't have good creativity in design (yes, it requires talent), but if the first three can be done to the extreme, you will already feel the fun of making clothes. But learning is boring and repetitive, so there is no way, so many people have ideas, but they can't produce anything real.

In addition, you must have super execution ability to help you reach a high level in technology. It's not enough to draw. You must practice, keep making clothes and keep trying.

You ask me which is more reliable, and I think I am more reliable, so there is no problem (be diligent, ask more questions and take the initiative).

Based on the suggestions given by everyone, if you want to learn fashion design, you can add a skirt, starting from 778, with 6000 in the middle and finally 396. You can share the dry goods of fashion design live every day, where you can learn to communicate, download materials and collect tutorial materials.

14, 10-15 weekend course, the content of study is: flat plate making of big body, collar, sleeves, skirts and pants.

The teacher is an experienced printmaker with good printmaking ability, but the teaching level is limited, so it is difficult to make the course easy to understand. Scholars are all amateurs now, and they often feel sleepy in class.

There are more than a dozen people in class at the same time, and the last class is just me and two other girls. Many people gradually quit halfway through their studies.

I don't regret choosing to enroll in class training, but generally speaking, this learning experience is hard and inefficient. When I made my choice, I took a fancy to the environment and equipment of this training course, but didn't think much about the "course" itself.

Looking back, the training mechanism of competition instead of training may be more dynamic than the single teaching mechanism/the training mode of teamwork may be more atmosphere/an experienced teacher who knows how to explain things in simple terms may be a better guide.

Of course, I'm glad I made some friends. What I like best is an architect-born girl who comes to class with her boyfriend. Now she is studying clothes in Milan. She has good taste and should grow into an independent designer in the future.

I left Beijing after the training. At that time, I also thought about going abroad to learn clothes. Later, because I was more interested in writing, I put my clothes on hold.

Looking at the creation of clothing now, I think it may be another form of writing: clothing, like words, can be a free extension of personal thoughts. It talks to you in a silent form. You wear it on your body, which is a kind of propaganda. Conform to your personality and temperament. Even give you the courage to explore the other side.

You can also convey certain values through clothes (such as the caution of artificial intelligence/criticism that groups devour individuals). Clothes will be a medium to help you get to know your peers.

If we learn fashion design from scratch now, I may think it will be more interesting and important to think about a concept, extend it and get through it. Then try to put the concept to the ground, whether you do it yourself or find a printmaker. Finally, it may be clearer to think about whether training courses are necessary. Do more than you think and arrive faster. This is my experience now.
