According to the Book of the Old Tang Dynasty, Li Shimin, Emperor Taizong, died suddenly after taking the alchemist's elixir of ancient India. At that time, all the ministers in the DPRK insisted on killing the conference semifinals, but Tang Gaozong, who had just ascended the throne, was worried that it was not a good thing that the Emperor of the Tang Dynasty died after taking the elixir, and it would make everyone laugh. In the history of China, the Li and Tang Dynasties honored Laozi, the founder of Taoism, as the royal ancestor for political needs, which led to the peak of refining Dan medicine. At the same time, it was also the dynasty in which the emperor's family suffered the most from Dan medicine. In the prosperous Tang Dynasty, six emperors died at the hands of Dan medicine, namely, Emperor Taizong in the early Tang Dynasty, Xian Zong in the middle Tang Dynasty, Mu Zong, Jingzong and Wu in the late Tang Dynasty. After Mu Zong, the Tang Emperor believed in taking the elixir of life. In the next ten emperors, three people died only because of taking the elixir, which accelerated the demise of the Li and Tang Dynasties.
According to research, the Ming emperors respected Taoism (for example, Wudang Mountain is the royal Taoist building complex in Ming Dynasty, and the statue of Zhenwu Emperor was shaped according to Zhu Di himself), so the Ming emperors had the habit of alchemy, and most of them died of overdose of Dan medicine poisoning and died young. In March 1566, Jiajing told Minister Xu Jie that he had been seriously ill for 14 months, and he wanted to go back to his birthplace to enhance his vitality. It was also this year that Jiajing died of Dan medicine poisoning, which was actually a relief to this desperate emperor. In July of the forty-eighth year of Wanli (AD 162), Ming Shenzong Zhu Yijun died and was buried in Dingling. In August, Zhu Changluo acceded to the throne, gaiyuan Taichang, for Ming Guangzong. However, Guangzong was in power for only one month, and he died of taking the red pill taken by Li Kezhuo, a swollen temple, due to illness. The history is called the "red pill case". In August of the first year of Taichang (AD 162), Guangzong was seriously ill, and the eunuch Cui Wensheng presented a laxative. After Guangzong took it, his condition became worse. He defecated 3 or 4 times a day and night, and courtiers accused Cui Wensheng of being ignorant of medicine and taking medicine rashly. Some people suspected that it was instigated by Zheng Guifei, a Shenzong. On August 29th, Guangzong's illness became worse, and Li Kezhuo, a swollen temple, entered the "red pill" again. Guangzong died on the first day of September after taking it, and discussions began inside and outside the court. Wang Anshun, the suggestion, was the first to neglect Li Kezhuo and asked for a heavy punishment. Cao Zhen, a young lady from Taichang Temple in Nanjing, also sent a letter to investigate and punish Cui and Li's traitors. As a result, the court sent Cui Wensheng to Nanjing, and Li Kezhuo sent him to exile in the distance. Later, Wei Zhongxian was in power to turn over the "red pill case", Li Kezhuo was relieved, and Cui Wensheng was appointed as the governor of grain transportation. It was not until Wei Zhongxian lost power and influence that Cui Wensheng was arrested and imprisoned.
Yongzheng was the last emperor of China feudal dynasty who died of Dan medicine. In the extraordinary efforts of Yongzheng, the Qing empire gradually reached its peak. However, overwork exhausted Yongzheng's physical strength, and loneliness and depression have always been his lingering nightmare. At the end of his life, the emperor had to turn to the legendary fairy medicine. Yuanmingyuan gave Yongzheng all the happiness, but also engraved with the pain that the emperor could not get rid of. More than 2 years later, these royal archives treasures in the Forbidden City were announced to the world, and experts discovered a lot of details about Yongzheng's alchemy in Yuanmingyuan. People began to believe that Yongzheng probably died of Dan medicine poisoning.
How did Yongzheng die? At :12 a.m. on Thursday, February 8, 27, in the Qingxi Mausoleum in Yixian County, Hebei Province, there is a mausoleum called Tailing, which is yongzheng emperor's graveyard. Yongzheng was an emperor who caused much controversy among later generations. His accession to the throne was full of suspicions, and his strict policy of governing the country made people comment endlessly. His sudden and sudden death left a mystery for later generations.
Mystery of Sudden Death
As for the death of Yongzheng, it is recorded in the "Ju Ju Zhu" of Yongzheng Dynasty in the archives of Qing Palace: In August of the 13th year of Yongzheng (AD 1735), yongzheng emperor lived in Yuanmingyuan. On August 18th, he discussed with his ministers to deal with minority affairs. On August 2th, he summoned several local officials of Ningguta, and he still worked normally the next day, indicating that he was still in good health.
But on August 22nd, he suddenly fell ill. In the evening, Yongzheng, who was already dying, announced that he would abdicate to his son Gan Long. The next day, 58-year-old Yongzheng took his last breath in Yuanmingyuan.
The official records of yongzheng emperor's sudden death in Qing Dynasty are so simple, and no reason is given. This is easy to arouse people's speculation. As a result, various statements about the cause of death of Yongzheng came into being.
The most popular folk story is that there was a chivalrous woman named Lv Siniang, whose father and grandfather were both killed by Yongzheng because of the literary inquisition. In revenge, Lv Siniang cut off Yongzheng's head. Therefore, when Yongzheng was buried, a golden head had to be cast.
another statement is even more surprising. It is said that Cao Xueqin, the author of A Dream of Red Mansions, has a lover named Zhu Xiangyu, who is the embodiment of Lin Daiyu. Zhu Xiangyu was later occupied by Yongzheng and became a queen. Cao Xueqin missed his lover, so he mixed into the palace and conspired with Zhu Xiangyu to poison Yongzheng with Dan medicine.
There is also a rumor in unofficial history that the maid-in-waiting colluded with the eunuch and strangled Yongzheng with a rope.
These legends show that many people resented Yongzheng's harsh governance during his lifetime. But folklore is not
