Language without humanism is just a joke.

Not long ago, I studied ancient poetry with students. When talking about Fan Zhongyan's The Fisherman is Proud of Qiu Si, I asked the students: What does "Ran Yan is unhappy" mean? Nobody knows Dou Xian, and nobody knows Yanran. When talking about Wang Wan's poems "A berth under the North Fort Mountain" and "The banks widen until the ebb tide, and there is no wind to stir my sails alone", please describe the scenes written in these two sentences. Many students said they described the scenery of the lake. They don't know that Beigushan is in Zhenjiang across the Yangtze River. Speaking of Wang Anshi's "Zhongshan is everything", no one knows that Zhongshan is in Nanjing.

I remember not long ago, I checked a test paper with the sentence "Plum rain is yellow" and asked the students what season this poem was about. Many students answered "autumn". That day happened to be the first day when Jiangnan entered Mei, but nobody paid attention to it. In their view, it is enough to finish the questions and papers in the book. What does the rest have to do with me?

Last time I discussed with two teachers in high school, they also felt that students didn't know the allusions of "one stream writes poetry" and "three schools divide into Jin". We are all feeling that students nowadays don't know how to learn Chinese.

It is an indisputable fact that students' humanistic quality is getting lower and lower. Chinese is profound and contains rich humanistic knowledge. Without a certain humanistic quality, learning Chinese well is just a joke.

I don't know how the humanistic quality of students is lost, but looking back at the learning process from primary school to junior high school and senior high school, we can find some clues.

The stylization of examination forms should be one of the reasons. The primary school Chinese exam focuses not on the application of knowledge, but on reciting the contents of textbooks. Some students know how to read, even as long as they recite the so-called standard answers. Students spend a lot of Chinese learning time on repeated practice and recitation. How can they have time to read and accumulate to expand their knowledge? Many teachers and students think that what you said is not directly related to the exam results. What does it matter whether you study or not? As long as you look at Chinese books, composition books and practice papers, you will still get high marks.

In junior high school, it takes students about one semester to complete this change in learning style. Many people may not be able to pay the debts owed by primary schools when they reach junior high school. There are new subjects and new texts in junior high school. For people with average comprehension ability, it is difficult to really understand and comprehend the knowledge in textbooks because of the lack of necessary humanistic literacy. How can they have time to read more books? In high school, there are nine courses at once, and there is no time to complete the cultivation and improvement of humanistic quality.

In this whole process, parents and many teachers also played a role in fueling the flames. When you find these, everything seems a little late.

The cultivation of humanistic quality needs long-term accumulation and cannot be completed overnight. Examination-oriented education only cultivates examination machines. To say the least, students can't learn Chinese well without humanistic accumulation. Without humanities, students' spiritual backbone can't really stand upright.

Chinese New Year ago, Teacher Han Jun said, "Without classical Chinese, we can't find our way home." Classical Chinese is an important carrier of humanity. Realizing the great rejuvenation of the nation is only limited to the status of a big country, and economic development is far from enough. To have the high spirit and self-confidence of the nation, even the culture of our ancestors lacks identification, reference, absorption and utilization for us. What about the improvement of humanistic quality and the establishment of spiritual demeanor?

Read some useless books!
