The original Strange Stone was translated by Su Shi.

The ancient book Gong Yu said: "Qingzhou produces lead, pine and strange stones", and the interpreter said that "strange stones are like jade among stones". Today, people often find beautiful stones on the Qi 'an River. They are no different from jade, mostly red, yellow and white. The patterns on them are like silk threads on people's fingers, delicate and transparent, and very lovely. Even the best painter thinks that painting is not as beautiful as this stone. However, the beauty and ugliness of all things in the world are the result of comparison, and I don't know why. If all the stones in the world are like this, the stones that look ordinary now will also become "strange stones". Overseas countries that use "body language" do not talk, but communicate through gestures. It is much more convenient for them to use gestures than words. Isn't it difficult for me to use gestures instead of words? These stones are produced by mysterious nature, created at once, and look very delicate to ordinary people. Even so, people have always thought this kind of stone is very strange since the Yu era. Children in Qi 'an often find strange stones when swimming by the river. I used the cake as bait to trick them into getting the stone. Soon, I got 298 yuan. The big ones are long and the small ones are like dates, chestnuts, ling and Polygonum. I regard it as the leader of a group of stones. I got an ancient bronze plate, used it to hold stones, and then filled it with water, which made me feel dazzling and sparkling. Fo Yin Zen master who happened to return to Lushan Mountain had a messenger to visit and thought it was my offering. Zen master observes everything with enlightened eyes, and regards everything in the world as nothing, no longer bound by the secular, and regards the night pearl and jewelry as rubble (detachment). Even so, I am willing to accept this kind of thing as my support. Irrigation with ink pool water is a joke. If people who want to worship the Zen master in the future and have no money to do a good job in food, clothing, housing and transportation all use clear water to inject stones as offerings, it will all start with me.
