Detailed introduction to "The Founding Ceremony"

I was born in Qutun Village, Zhenping County, Henan Province on February 7, 1927. I am from the same hometown as General Peng Feng. In April 1949, I was lucky enough to meet Zhong Liqun, a patriotic young man and progressive director in the Christian Student Commune of Wuhan University. After his introduction, I worked as an assistant director in the Christian Student Commune of Wuhan University. There I participated in the school property protection movement and got acquainted with underground gangsters. Wang Quanqing, a member of the Communist Party, received Marxist-Leninist ideological education and participated in the underground Youth League. On August 16 of the same year, the Wuhan University party organization recommended me to the Central Military Commission Engineering School (a unit directly under the Central Military Commission) to study radio technology.

In June 1949, news came from the preparatory meeting of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference that the founding ceremony of the People's Republic of China was held in Beijing's Tiananmen Square on October 1, with military parades and mass marches to solemnly celebrate the founding of New China. The Central Military Commission decided to select 81 student representatives from the Central Military Commission Engineering School to participate in the founding ceremony. The school immediately organized the recommendation of student representatives in each brigade, and the eighth brigade where I was selected selected representatives from more than 400 students. After strict screening in terms of politics, physical fitness, and professional qualities, 12 student representative candidates were recommended, and then through secret voting, 9 student representatives were selected to participate in the founding ceremony of the People's Republic of China. At only 22 years old, I was serving as a district captain (equivalent to a platoon leader) and one of the few members of the underground New Democratic Youth League branch among the students, so I was recruited by the Eighth Brigade of the Central Military Commission Engineering School (one brigade is equivalent to one Recommended by students from a regiment-level establishment) to be one of the student representatives participating in the founding ceremony of the People's Republic of China. I remember knowing that I was going to Beijing to attend the founding ceremony of the People's Republic of China. I felt very honored. I was so excited that I couldn't close my eyes for several days.

At the end of September this year, 81 students took a train from Zhangjiakou to Beijing under the leadership of the school leaders. At 5 a.m. on October 1, all students gathered from their base and ran for two hours to reach Tiananmen Square. Our location is only more than 200 meters away from the Tiananmen Gate Tower, and we can clearly see the demeanor of the leaders on the tower. At 2 pm on October 1, the most exciting moment for the Chinese people in the 20th century has arrived. 300,000 people gathered in Tiananmen Square, where flowers were blooming and colorful flags were flying. The founding ceremony of the People's Republic of China is about to begin. When Chairman Mao Zedong ascended the last step of the Tiananmen Gate Tower, the cheers of "Long Live Chairman Mao" suddenly shook the world, and Tiananmen Square became a sea of ??joy.

Mao Zedong, Zhou Enlai, Zhu De, Liu Shaoqi, Liu Bocheng, Chen Yi and other leaders of the Republic of China stood on the Tiananmen Gate Tower with solemn expressions.

At 3:00 p.m., Lin Boqu announced the start of the celebration.

Chairman Mao Zedong, the great leader of the Chinese people, stands tall and tall on the Tiananmen Gate Tower. He solemnly declared in a thick Hunan accent: "Compatriots, the Central People's Government of the People's Republic of China was established today." At this time, the entire square burst into cheers. Amidst the storm of applause, Chairman Mao Zedong pressed the button leading to the flagpole in the center of the square, and the first five-star red flag of New China slowly rose to the top of the flagpole and fluttered in the wind over the capital of the Republic of China. The crowd cheered. Amid the majestic military music, 54 guns fired a 28-gun salute. Cheers of "Long live the Republic of China" resounded through the sky...

The military parade began.

Commander-in-Chief Zhu De, wearing a brand-new military uniform made of woolen material, boarded a military parade vehicle to review various units of the People's Liberation Army. Then, Marshal Nie Rongzhen, Commander of the North China Military Region, Commander of the Beijing-Tianjin Garrison, and Commander-in-Chief of the Parade, saluted Commander-in-Chief Zhu De and reported in a loud voice: The troops under review are ready, please review by the Commander-in-Chief!

Commander-in-Chief Zhu De, accompanied by Commander Nie Rongzhen, took a vehicle to review the troops standing neatly on East Chang'an Street and Dongdan Square. "Hello, comrades!" This is the voice of the commander-in-chief. "Hello, Commander!" resounding replies came from time to time among the infantry division, artillery division, tank division, cavalry division and navy team that were being reviewed. The review continued until Dongjiaomin Lane, where foreign consulates gathered, before Commander-in-Chief Zhu De and Commander Nie Rongzhen returned to the Tiananmen Rostrum. After the review, Commander-in-Chief Zhu De boarded the Tiananmen Gate Tower and issued the "Order of the Chinese People's Liberation Army Headquarters."

Then, the exciting procession began.

A People's Liberation Army team came over. A tall and heroic PLA soldier held a bright "August 1st" military flag and advanced in the breeze. Two flag guards, carrying submachine guns, guarded the sacred military flag.

"Crack, click, click!" The naval squadron came. Every soldier in the formation was wearing a blue and white sea soul uniform and a white sailor cap, with a black ribbon slowly fluttering behind his head, making him look particularly handsome. The People's Army has its own navy! The cheers of the people in the square surged like waves...

Following the naval formation were 12 infantry formations composed of more than 8,000 commanders and combatants. In the front line, the commanders and fighters were all carrying American-made Sten and Tom submachine guns on their chests. From behind, light machine guns, heavy machine guns, light mortars, heavy mortars appeared one after another... Boom, boom, boom. Long! The artillery division and the tank division came one after another with overwhelming momentum. The artillery carriages and tanks passing in front of the Tiananmen reviewing stand were all painted with "August 1st" red stars and white circles, which looked very spectacular. The soldiers stood on the chariot with their chests raised, focusing on the tower, and solemnly saluted Chairman Mao Zedong and other founding fathers of the country. Suddenly, there was a roar in the sky. The first squadron of the People's Air Force is flying over Tiananmen Square. In Tiananmen Square, the cheers of the people and the roar of airplanes intertwined, forming a sea of ??joy.

Throughout the celebration, I was always excited. Mao Zedong, Zhu De, Liu Shaoqi, Zhou Enlai and other national leaders are clearly visible, and their faces are so kind. At that time, many representatives, like me, were moved to tears. After the parade ended, everyone felt how time flew by so fast and really wanted to relive the breathtaking scene again. After the founding ceremony of the People's Republic of China, we walked back to our residence. Everyone was still in high spirits, perhaps too excited. We didn't feel tired or hungry (from the time we arrived at Tiananmen Square after breakfast at 5 o'clock in the morning, no one had eaten at noon), we just After two hours, we returned to the guest house.

In the winter of 1951, after graduating from school, I obeyed the organizational arrangements and worked in the army with peace of mind for more than 10 years. In 1963, I responded to the party’s call to support local economic construction, transferred from the Fourth Aviation School of the Navy to Qingyuan, and took root in Qingyuan. Worked in Yuanshan District for more than 30 years. In Qingyuan, I actively requested to join the party organization, and finally officially joined the Communist Party of China in 1986.

Participating in the founding ceremony was the most honored and profound experience in my life. In my later work, whenever I encountered difficulties and setbacks, I thought of Chairman Mao’s resonant voice on the Tiananmen Gate Tower during the founding ceremony of the People’s Republic of China. It was like my whole body was electrified, full of energy and blood boiling; I recalled that time with the 300,000 people in Tiananmen Square. Cheering with one voice makes me full of energy and courage - the moving scenes of the celebration are still clearly visible even though more than fifty years have passed, and the lingering sound lingers in my ears, urging me to forge ahead
