After the founding of New China, Su Hua was appointed Minister of Women Workers' Department of the Provincial Federation of Trade Unions, Secretary of the Provincial Women's Movement Committee, Director of the First Provincial Women's Federation, elected as a deputy to the National People's Congress and a member of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, and attended the Asian Women's Congress held in Beijing on behalf of Fujian women, and was received by President Mao Zedong and Premier Zhou Enlai.

After the Third Plenary Session of the Eleventh Central Committee, Su Hua was appointed as a member of the Provincial Advisory Committee.
