Daheishan Nature Reserve is located in the southeast of Aohan Banner and in the middle and east of Nurul Tiger Mountain in Yanshan Mountains. Geographical coordinates are north latitude120 00'-121',north latitude 42 00'-4714', with a total area of 57,096 hectares. The core area is 4238.4 hectares. The buffer area is 7763.4 hectares. The experimental area covers an area of 45094.2 hectares.

In June of 20001year, Daheishan was approved as a national nature reserve, which is a hilly and mountainous comprehensive nature reserve with the protection of grassland, forest ecosystem, wildlife habitat and water conservation area of Xiliaohe River as the main protection objects. Its biology is complex and diverse, with strong typicality, representativeness, uniqueness and fragility, which plays an important role in national biodiversity protection and is of great value to the study of global environmental evolution.

There are 5 vegetation types and 14 formations in Daheishan Nature Reserve, which mainly include grassland vegetation, forest vegetation, shrub vegetation, semi-shrub vegetation and meadow vegetation. There are 42 species of birds 16 orders, 4 1 family, 8 1 genus 1 species in the nature reserve, including1species under national first-class protection and 2 1 species under national second-class protection, such as kites, sparrows, red-footed falcons and yellow-footed falcons. There are 29 species of mammals, belonging to 6 orders 13 families, among which antelope is a national second-class protected animal, and there are 158 species of insects, belonging to 7 orders and 30 genera. There are more than 600 species of wild vascular plants belonging to 82 families and 30 1 genus, in addition to amphibians, reptiles and a large number of fungi and mosses, and the biodiversity is very remarkable.
