Volunteers for the Beijing Olympic Games refer to people from all walks of life, about 70,000 people, who serve others, society and the Olympic Games in the whole process of preparation and holding of the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games, based on the principle of voluntariness and taking voluntary service as the basic form.

Volunteer service posts for Beijing Olympic Games involve many fields, such as concierge reception, language translation, transportation, security, medical care, audience guidance, goods distribution, communication, competition organization guarantee, venue operation guarantee, news operation guarantee, cultural activities organization guarantee and so on.

On June 5, 2005, the Beijing Olympic Volunteer Program was officially launched. At the launching ceremony, the Beijing Olympic Volunteer Action Plan and the Beijing Olympic Volunteer Logo were officially launched, marking the official launch of the Beijing Olympic Volunteer Project.

On August 28th, 2006, the recruitment of volunteers for the Beijing Olympic Games was officially launched, and the theme activity of "Smile Beijing" was also launched. The slogan of the activity is "The smile of volunteers is the best business card in Beijing".

On June 5438+1October 65438+September, 2007, the registration of volunteers from all provinces (autonomous regions and municipalities) of Beijing Olympic and Paralympic Games began. On March 28th, 2007, the registration of volunteers for the Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan Overseas Chinese Games began. The final number of applicants is 292,000 from other provinces (autonomous regions and municipalities), 7,000 from Hong Kong, 2,000 from Macau, 3,000 from Taiwan Province Province, 28,000 from overseas Chinese and 22,000 from foreigners.

In August 2007, the first batch of volunteer employment notices were issued.

On March 3rd, 2008, * * * more than 1 120000 people submitted their applications for the Beijing Olympic Games, of which 97.87% were under 35 years old and 79.9% had bachelor degree or above.

In May 2008, the recruitment of Universiade volunteers was completed. Volunteers consist of college students, middle school students, social volunteers, volunteers from provinces, municipalities and autonomous regions, professional volunteers, volunteers from Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan, overseas Chinese volunteers and international volunteers from foreigners in Beijing.
