What does English Reading and Writing Contest mean?

“The National Youth English Reading and Writing Contest is a national initiative jointly sponsored by the Translators Association of China, the Chinese Prose Society, and the Youth Center of the China Oriental Culture Research Association to commemorate the 60th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China. The purpose of the competition is to inherit Chinese civilization, promote cultural exchanges among young people, further improve young people's English reading and writing skills, guide more young people to love the translation industry, and reserve outstanding talents for China's translation industry."
