The history of the preparation and construction of the Wenjia City Reunion Memorial Hall of the Autumn Harvest Uprising

In 1959, the Hunan Provincial People's Government announced that the former meeting place was a provincial cultural relic protection unit.

On March 4, 1961, the State Council of the People's Republic of China was among the first to announce that Yiliren School, the former site of the Wenjia City Alliance Division during the Autumn Harvest Uprising, was a national key cultural relic protection unit.

In 1963, the People's Committee of Liuyang County assigned Comrade Li Hailiang to be responsible for the protection and management of cultural relics at the old site of the junction.

On October 21, 1964, Hunan Provincial Culture allocated 6,200 yuan for the first time to repair Liren School.

On February 15, 1965, six original Soviet revolutionary slogans were found in the plaster walls of the old site during repairs.

In April 1966, the Wenjia Municipal Office was established below: "Autumn Harvest Uprising Wenjia City Reunion Site Cultural Relics Protection and Management Committee." The abbreviation of "Cultural Management Committee" is used together with the seal.

On July 25, 1967, the Armed Forces Department of Wenjia City issued the "Notice on Protecting the Liren School at the Former Reunion Site of Wenjia City during the Autumn Harvest Uprising." The original Liren School was moved from the former reunification site to Xinliren School.

On January 1, 1969, the Xiangtan District Revolutionary Committee issued a notice to establish the "Chairman Mao Wenjia City Revolutionary Activity Memorial Site Construction Headquarters" and activated the seal at the same time; subsequently, Hua Guofeng, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Li Zhenjun, deputy secretary of the Provincial Party Committee and commander of the Provincial Military Region, came to Wenjia City to inspect the construction site of the memorial hall.

On March 9, 1969, a swearing-in ceremony was held to commemorate the construction of the memorial hall project.

On April 18, 1969, the Hunan Provincial Party Committee conveyed the Central Cultural Revolution Instruction that "all commemorative construction projects have been suspended." The original "Chairman Mao's Revolutionary Activity Memorial Site Construction Headquarters in Wenjia City" was changed to " "Wenjia City Construction Office of Chairman Mao's Revolutionary Memorial Site", referred to as "Discipline Construction Office".

On November 19, 1971, Liuyang County Revolutionary Committee, Liu Gefa (71) 80 document notice: " The Wenjia City Construction Office of Chairman Mao’s Revolutionary Memorial Site was renamed the “Autumn Harvest Uprising Wenjia City Reunion Site Memorial Hall”.

In 1972, Comrade Guo Moruo inscribed the name of the museum.

In 1973, the famous American journalist Mrs. Snow came to visit the museum.

From January 1, 1974, the Hunan Provincial Party Committee notified the museum to officially open to domestic and foreign countries. In the same year, we received Vice Prime Minister Chen Yonggui and Guo Fenglian to visit the museum.

In November 1976, the Propaganda Department of the Provincial Party Committee approved the restoration of the war kitchen and canteen at the former site of the meeting.

In May 1977, construction began on the wall surrounding the old site of the Reunion Division and the reconstruction of a guest house.

In October 1978, superiors allocated 60,000 yuan to repair the old site, and the repairs were completed in November of the following year.

In 1982, the Provincial Cultural Relics Bureau allocated 20,000 yuan to repair the former site of the Front Committee and protect the slogans on the walls of Slogan Lane from moisture and falling off.

In May 1983, the "Autumn Harvest Uprising Wenjia City Reunion Site Memorial Hall" was renamed as the "Autumn Harvest Uprising Wenjia City Reunion Memorial Hall."

At present, the expansion project of the museum has been started. In 2015 , the Autumn Harvest Uprising Wenjia City Memorial Hall will form a spatial structure of "three areas and one base" including a tourism service area, a reunion commemoration area, and a red cultural education base. For example, the expanded memorial hall will pay special attention to interaction with tourists. In the "Wenjia City Victory" project, visitors can personally experience the tasks and responsibilities of different roles in the army such as soldiers, doctors, and military supplies.

After the expansion, the Wenjia City Autumn Harvest Uprising Memorial Hall will cover an area of ????250,000 square meters. 300 acres, 15 times larger than now.
