The history and culture of Yeliguan National Forest Park

Yeliguan National Forest Park was established with the approval of the State Forestry Administration in Document No. 274 (2002) of the Forestry Administration, and is affiliated to the Taohe Forestry Bureau of the Bailongjiang Forestry Administration.

The total area of ??the park is 79,400 hectares, with a forest coverage rate of 63%.

Located on the northeastern edge of the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau, in the fold zone transitioning to the Loess Plateau, it is a dazzling and bright pearl in the state-owned forest area in the transition zone between the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau and the Loess Plateau in the west of the motherland.

The altitude of the park is between 2100 and 4100 meters, with an average annual temperature of 5.9°C. The climate is humid, there is no heat in summer, and it is refreshing and pleasant.

It is connected to the Lianhua Mountain Nature Reserve in the east; to the Meiwu Grassland in Xiahe County to the west; to the north it is adjacent to Hezheng and Kangle Counties; to the south it is connected to Yangsha Township in Lintan County and Qiagai Township in Zhuoni County.

There are 5 townships in Lintan and Zhuoni counties, 24 administrative villages, 118 natural villages, and more than 2,500 households in the park, including Han, Tibetan, Hui and Tu nationalities. ***More than 14,000 people.

The park is 174 kilometers away from the provincial capital Lanzhou City, and the transportation conditions are relatively convenient.

According to the plan, the park is divided into five major scenic spots, namely Dongxia, Yehai, Xiangzigou, Heihe, and Xixia. There are more than 270 natural and cultural landscapes.

The Dongxia Scenic Area is a place where natural landscapes and cultural landscapes complement each other.

There is a ten-mile long gorge with two mountains confronting each other and thousands of cliffs; there is the country's largest 5-kilometer natural reclining Buddha; and there is a 100-meter-high "Life Cliff" with lifelike images that resemble male and female genitals.

In addition, there are Feilaishi, Laohukou, "Equan" waterfall, Phoenix Mountain, red bamboo stone forest, "Wheat Ji" and Qingyagou cave natural landscape.

The cultural landscape includes the Gannan Peasant Uprising Martyrs Cemetery and several ancient castles remaining from the Ming Dynasty.

Yehai Scenic Area has first-class water landscape and unique Danxia landform.

Yehai has a circumference of 20 kilometers and a water area of ??1.2 square kilometers. It has ripples of blue waves in summer and autumn, and ice patterns in winter and spring.

Red cliffs stand on both sides of the Red Cliff Valley, with protruding stalagmites on Jianfeng Peak, caves and holes everywhere, and splashing springs and waterfalls.

In addition, there are also natural landscapes such as Chang Ye’s Horse Drinking Spring, Imperial Cliff, Four Screens, Five Lions Guarding the City, Demon Cave, and Demon Spring.

This is also the birthplace of the Gannan Peasant Uprising. There is a cemetery of uprising martyrs, monuments and pavilions for tourists to pay their respects.

Yeliguan National Forest Park is a mysterious station on the "Tang-Tibet Ancient Road" and "Tea-Horse Ancient Road", the treasure house of Chinese national culture. It is another information-rich park in the transition zone on the eastern edge of the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau. The Geological Museum is a natural animal and plant paradise where the ecological environment of the upper reaches of the Yellow River maintains its original appearance.

It is not only a scenic eco-tourism resort; it is also the main water source conservation base of the upper reaches of the Yellow River and a demonstration base for scientific research activities on geology and mineral resources, flora and fauna, folk customs, and Buddhist culture.

The Forest Park established a management committee in 2002, which consists of offices, reception departments, art troupes, infrastructure departments, tour guide reception departments and other institutions. It currently has 310 employees.
