Wang Zai, a historical figure, is a famous missionary in China.

Wang Zai (1898- 1975), born in Fuzhou, Fujian, 1898 on March 26th. Fuzhou is one of the earliest trading ports that China was forced to open due to defeat. With the entry of merchants, missionaries followed, so Fuzhou became one of the earliest cities in China to accept Christianity, and also one of the two regions where Christianity produced and trained the most church leaders in China (the other is Shandong), such as Song, Ni Tuosheng, Wang Zai, Wang Lianjun, Miao Shaoxun, Lu Zhongxin and Wei Guangxi, who all made outstanding contributions to the revival of the church in China.

Abandon the army and follow the Lord

Tsai's family is not a Christian family, and no one in the family believes in Jesus. It was his wife Pan Shaorong who took Wang Zi to the church to get in touch with Christ. Since marriage, Wang Zi, led by his new wife, has entered the church, looked up the Bible and was urged by the Holy Spirit to convert to Christ.

19 17, Wang zaiqian entered Nanjing naval academy with his scientific names Zhu, Sun Xisheng. He opened a bible study class and invited naval students to study classics. However, at this time, the king was not sure whether he was saved. Wang Zai's witness record reads: "1918 1 1 0/0/01. At night, I felt miserable, thinking that I had been a member for more than a year, but I was saved? " Can I go to heaven? I also feel that my inner filth has not been purified. If the Lord comes today, how can I see him safely? 」

After two years, Wang Zi was finally influenced by the Holy Spirit and was baptized at Xiamen seaside on 1920. His witness said, "The Lord made me understand the meaning of baptism. After his death, the Baptist was buried with the Lord and resurrected here. So, he immersed himself in the seaside of Gulangyu Island in Xiamen on June 1920 65438+ 10/9, which was in the severe winter. Although he was immersed in the sea, his body was intact. 」

A year later, Wang Zai faced another question. He doesn't know whether he should be in the navy or concentrate on preaching. He said: "I spent nine years in the navy and was trained by the state. Once I leave, it's easier said than done. Nine years of work will be in vain; Everything I learned on weekdays is useless ... but the sound of leaving, the sound of leaving, makes me very anxious. I looked at the cross of the Lord Jesus. Why did I leave everything to him? I decided to leave the navy and concentrate on praying and preaching all my life. 」

Live by the Lord

Wang Zai believes that God is faithful and absolutely responsible for his servants. Therefore, he was not employed by any church, did not join any church group, lived a confident life without funds and bases, and became the earliest "free preacher" in China. He wrote in his memoirs: "Some people think that I have no resources and no base, and I am worried that my life will be unsustainable. But the Bible says,' The Lord is a strong tower, and the righteous will be saved if they rush in. (Phil. 4: 19) said, "My God will provide all your needs in Christ Jesus according to his abundant glory. This is my richest "capital". 」

Wang Zai believes that people who live by faith have several fundamental principles: first, they do not accept fixed wages; Second, do not borrow (do not owe); The third is not to donate; Fourth, don't tell or hint at your own shortcomings; Fifth, I want to give myself. Although there is no salary, Wang Zi is not worried about his life at all. He said: "Since we live entirely by the Lord, we have to go through trials, and sometimes there is no surplus food, so it seems that we can't cook." Sometimes there is no spare money in hand, and there seems to be no ointment. But the Lord listened to my prayer and provided for our needs according to his glorious wealth in Christ Jesus, so I always thought that I had a bank that would never fail. 」

After a sermon, Wang Zai burned his three diplomas to show that he did not hesitate.

Fuxing torch

192 1 year, Wang Zai hosted a party and held a revival sermon in Fuzhou Ziyuan every Sunday. More and more people feel and believe it. Lu Zhongxin and Miao Shaoxun, who were later reused by God, understood the truth of salvation at that party. At that time, Wang Lianjun visited Fuzhou and saw the fire of revival spreading, so he also resigned as a naval officer to join the Ministry. Later, a large number of young students joined in and became powerful crusaders. They not only took part in the collective sermon, but also put on the gospel cloth with the words "He who believes in Jesus will be saved" and "Everyone is a sinner" and took to the streets. All the people were saved.

Besides Fuzhou, Wang Zai also brought the torch of revival to East China. Shanghai, from 65438 to 0925, is full of the power of the Holy Spirit and leads the congregation to believe in the Lord. Many Christians once again gave their lives to work for the Lord, and some of them became famous leaders of the church, including priests.

1925, Wang Zai spread the torch to North China, and when he preached in Shaanxi, 1000 people returned to the Lord.

1926, Wang Zai was invited to preach in Hong Kong. The location of the sermon is Lee's Theatre. This is the first time to hold a sermon in the theater, showing an unprecedented grand occasion. Jenny Cai Kuang Aiping recorded: "The second and third floors downstairs of Lee's stage, up and down the podium, and the sidewalks were crowded with people. It can be said that it is a gospel explosion, and I have only seen it once in my life. 」

1928, Wang Zai was invited to Hong Kong to hold the first Peiling seminar. During this period, with the help of Reverend Zhai Fumin, Wang Zai carried out the plan of missionary work in Nanyang, and successively went to Annan, Singapore, Java, Bacheng and other places, entered the Indonesian archipelago in 1929, and returned home via Dongpo Borneo and Hong Kong.

This missionary work was very smooth, and it strengthened their determination to preach in Nanyang Islands. So when they came back, they drafted articles of association with several priests who shared the burden, and set up a fixed missionary organization called Nanyang Missionary Society, which was located in Wuzhou, Guangxi, with Wang Zai as its chairman.

Wang Zai insisted on leading the Renaissance Association in many places in China, and successively went to Shanghai, Hangzhou, Qingdao, Jinan, Beijing and other places to arouse domestic colleagues to preach overseas. All localities responded positively and donated money in succession. Therefore, the work of Nanyang Missionary Society was undertaken by the believers of China Church, which was worthy of the name. Therefore, it was renamed "China Overseas Missionary Society" and became the first missionary society in China.

"Biography of Christian Figures in China" wrote: "From then on, Wang Zai devoted himself to missionary work abroad and led the first missionary work in China. For more than 40 years, he has been to more than 30 countries. He talked about the task around 1955. At that time, there were more than 30 collaborators in Vietnam and Indonesia, ranging from 1945 to 655. 」

In his later years, Wang Zai traveled to and from Hong Kong, Taiwan Province, the United States and Australia, preaching and giving lessons to solve doubts, and enjoyed it until he settled in California in the last few years of his life.

Read classics every day.

Wang Zi has never been to a seminary or received traditional theological training. He can become an excellent preacher because he has been studying classics for decades. His younger brother recalled: "The strength of his life is that he loves the Bible just as a deer loves a stream! After reading it, I think about it day and night. 」

Reading the Bible convinced the king that there was a God who created heaven and earth. He was full of love, compassion and justice. We are all sinners who have violated God's commandments and laws, but only by being crucified for our sins and becoming our mediators can we make peace with God.

He made a rule for himself, that is, "Don't eat breakfast without reading the Bible." Because he valued the words from God's mouth more than the food he needed, he decided to eat spiritual food first. Since then, he took this slogan as his motto, and later missionaries such as Billy Graham and Bierce also quoted this slogan.

Wang Zai has read the Old Testament at least 59 times, the New Testament 163 times, the Psalms and Proverbs 5 13 times each.

Wang Zai contributed a lot to the revival of the church in China, and many famous priests died because of him. They were the torchbearers of the revival torch at that time. "The Lord saved him, the Lord chose him, the Lord used him, and the Lord kept him. These four sentences can be said to be the final summary of Wang Zi's life.
