Anxiety Management Eight-Character Guidelines for College Students’ Mental Health

Anxiety is a common emotion in life, and everyone will feel anxious at some point. Anxiety may be more intense when faced with decisions, challenging tasks, or changes that need to be made. However, an important truth is that anxiety does not change the outcome of things, it just puts your health and happiness at risk.
First of all, we need to understand that anxiety cannot solve the problem. When we are in an anxious mood, our thinking becomes cluttered and we feel very uneasy, which can make our lives more difficult. Anxiety may make us feel uncertain about the future, we fear making the wrong decision, we fear failure and worry that our efforts will be in vain. When anxiety becomes more and more intense, we may even feel psychological discomfort and pain.
What we need to understand, however, is that anxiety does not make us more informed or decisive. If we can calm down, we will be able to think better about situations and solve problems better. When we are anxious, stress hormones in our brains affect our decision-making abilities. We can become too nervous and too focused on “wrong” versus “right” instead of looking for the best solution. This can lead to us making poor decisions and missing opportunities.
So, when we realize that anxiety may be clouding our judgment, we need to learn to calm down. We can try soothing breathing, taking deep breaths and slow inhalations. We can mentally relax and push anxiety out of our brains. We can also use exercise, social interaction, and other activities to relieve anxiety so that it no longer takes up our mental space.
In addition, another thing to understand is that anxiety is inevitable. Everyone feels anxiety, it’s a natural human emotion. Although we can't completely eliminate anxiety, we can alleviate it through positive actions. We can look for solutions, take proactive steps to change things that are caused by anxiety, and discover and adopt methods that work for us to better cope with and deal with this emotion.
In life, we encounter many problems, and everyone has their own anxieties. Some issues do not require too much consideration. What we need to understand is that we must learn to let go of our mental burdens and no longer be anxious about the future. Instead, we can try to focus our attention on the present moment, where we can try to do what we should do and spend more time and energy on our work and family.
