On June/KOOC-0/65438+/KOOC-0/October/KOOC-0/day, 2008, the "Grand Canal Culture Exhibition" planned by China National Museum was opened to the public in the first and second exhibition halls of Guobo North. The exhibition was jointly organized by China National Museum, Capital Museum, Tianjin Museum and Hebei Museum, and lasted for nearly 4 months.

The first part, separated by a river, thousands of years north and south.

The excavation and reconstruction of the Grand Canal originated from the deepening of human understanding and utilization of water resources. In ancient legends, there is a story of ancestors controlling water and digging canals. From the end of the Spring and Autumn Period, a short-distance waterway Yangou was dug, and then it gradually flourished, and then the Grand Canal was dug in Yang Di. During the Sui, Tang and Song Dynasties, a traffic artery connecting the north and the south with Luoyang as the center was formed. After the capital of Beijing was established in Yuan Dynasty, the bend was straightened, forming a water transport network with the Grand Canal as the center and running through the north and south. By the end of the Qing Dynasty, the Grand Canal was gradually abolished and lasted for more than 2,000 years. The rise and fall of the canal is closely related to the fate of the feudal dynasty, and it has become the main artery to maintain rule and stabilize the country. After the founding of People's Republic of China (PRC), the Grand Canal has been restored and renovated, showing new vitality.

Part II: North-South Currency

Water transportation is of great significance to Beijing's urban development. During the Ming and Qing Dynasties, eight provinces along the canal provided 3-4 million stone water and grain to Beijing every year for the royal family, officials, people and soldiers to eat. In addition to providing a stable food supply to Beijing, we also bring other commodities to Beijing for trade. It was clearly stipulated in the Qing Dynasty that soil could be transported by tanker, and it could be bought and sold freely along the way without tax. When you come back, you can carry more merchants and transport bulk goods on behalf of customers. In the Qing dynasty, more than 6000 waterwheels sailed every year. It is conceivable that there was a huge amount of goods coming and going on the canal at that time.

The third part, thousands of ships and ten thousand people go hand in hand.

The development of ancient canals in China is closely related to canal water transport. Water transportation is a set of management system formed by the ancient government of China, which collected some grain and transported it to Beijing or other designated places by water. Grain transportation is the lifeblood of the empire and is of great significance. In order to ensure the smooth completion of grain transportation, it is first necessary to set up relevant management institutions to form an orderly management of the main links from top to bottom, from grain collection to warehouse transportation, including a series of management of grain ships and servants during transportation. It is precisely by relying on the highly centralized system of feudal society and implementing the relevant tax system and water and grain collection system that the grand blueprint of canal water transport can be realized.

The fourth part, amazing world works.

The reason why the Grand Canal can carry the inheritance of Chinese civilization has become the lifeblood of the feudal dynasty.

It has brought vitality to the towns along the Grand Canal and become the driving force for the development and prosperity of these areas. On the material basis of economic and commercial development, culture is prosperous. In particular, the distinctive features of the regional culture of the Canal and the cultural integration brought about by the exchange of the Canal are both colorful and comprehensive, which makes the Grand Canal culture shine.
