Why did I abandon the traditional side-side battery swap in the field of heavy truck battery swap? Because we first started making commercial vehicles by replacing batteries on the side of buses, and at this time we began to use top-mounted battery replacement. In the picture on the left, Jiuxing launched an actual side-to-side power swapping station in 2018, and on the right is an experimental station for hoisting power-swapping launched in 2019. We know that side-swapping batteries require a robot on each side of the beam. The main features are Two large batteries plus two power swapping equipment on the left and right; the top ceiling power swapping may be a battery that may be placed behind the driver's compartment in the trunk, and a hoisting device above completes the task of extracting the battery.

I would like to share with you some of the characteristics of sideways power swapping and hoisting power swapping from several dimensions such as technical difficulty, reliability, power swapping station cost, floor space, and power swapping time. .

When we change the battery from the side, no matter the pull-out method is used at first, we always pull out the side of the battery, and put the battery on the charging rack for charging by rotating and lifting, so that the equipment is relatively stable. It is said that the requirements for the entire vehicle are relatively high. The entire vehicle must be kept level. Affected by the tire pressure, if the battery weighing two to three tons is removed, the posture of the entire vehicle will also change relatively greatly. This will increase the success rate of battery replacement for the equipment. Or the technical requirements are relatively difficult, and the reliability of the entire technology is relatively not that high.

If you use hoisting and top-mounted power replacement, this is too common. The technology is relatively mature. Ordinary workshops use cranes and cranes. This technology is relatively simple and the reliability is relatively high. , the cost is still relatively low.

From the perspective of floor area, the side-mounted power swap station is expected to be basically larger than about 300 square meters, while the top-mounted power swap station is less than 200 square meters.

From the perspective of battery replacement time, relatively speaking, the side time is slightly longer. This is why Jiuxing chose hoisting for battery replacement because of its mature technology, high reliability and low cost.

The following are some attempts made by Jiuxing in the entire hoisting battery swap. This product is called a power battery box assembly. When I defined the product for the team, I had two requirements: 1. This The product should not place too many requirements on the car. You can let the car factory get it and use it like standard parts; 2. This product must be compatible with multiple models and battery packs of multiple specifications.

At this time we saw the picture on the right. The upper part is the standard replacement power battery box assembly, and the side is the bottom drag assembly. There is no need to change the structure of the car beam, and the upper part is ensured to be unified. In this way, my battery swapping station can basically be compatible with various models. Whether it is a mixer truck, a mechanical truck, or a tractor, I am basically compatible with the frameworks of various electronic manufacturers.

In addition, this framework has an advantage. According to different scenarios, sometimes the battery is selected to be higher, and sometimes the battery is lower, because it ensures that the top does not move, and it is compatible if it is taller or shorter. The reliability of this product is actually a huge challenge, including the reliability of the electrical connection. We conducted full analysis at the beginning of the design and passed the national standard test. This is an actual test we did at Xiaogan Military Field. After running for 10,000 kilometers, it is basically equivalent to the strength of 500,000 kilometers of ordinary roads. After running, whether it is the strength of the frame or the reliability of the connection, performance, as well as the stability of the electrical connection, and basically there are no abnormal phenomena.

I would like to mention that the fourth generation of Jiuxing is this battery swapping station (see picture). We do battery swapping for heavy trucks, and it is difficult to adjust the vehicle like a passenger car. Since it is difficult to adjust, I will not adjust it. As you can see, the entire entrance to the car in my battery swapping station is a flat surface with nothing, no positioning, and nothing else. At this time, we are replacing the battery on the top.
