The first Shenzhen WTA Year-End Finals in 2008 will be held at the China Resources Shenzhen Bay Sports Center from October 27th to November 3rd, with a total prize money of US$14 million. The WTA Shenzhen Year-end Finals is the highest-level individual sports event since the founding of Shenzhen. It is also the highest-level tennis event in Asia and the highest-level women's tennis event in the world. This event brings together the world's top professional women's tennis players. The 8 singles players and 8 doubles players with the highest scores among the 57 events throughout the season (including 53 WTA events and 4 Grand Slam events) will be eligible to participate in the WTA Shenzhen Year-end Finals. At that time, they will go to Pengcheng together to fight for the peak honor.

In the eight match days from 2010 to 2012, singles and doubles players competed in group round-robin and knockout rounds, with a total prize pool of up to US$14 million.
