Hard disk partition table problem

Problem description:

Analysis:

I haven't heard of anything that can be seen directly in DOS. If you want to know if there are any bad methods, test them with software. There are several models below.

In order to make it easier for users to use hard disks, reduce hard disk failures and detect hard disks when failures occur, hard disk manufacturers have introduced hard disk detection software based on their own hard disks. The following is a detailed introduction:

Data Protection Tools (Western Digital Company: Data Protection Tools)

This package (data lifeguard tool) is a kit for Western Digital Hard Disk (the latest version is data lifeguard tool v2.5 released in September 2000). When running this program, it will be self-extracted to the floppy disk. This "data guardian" floppy disk can be used for system startup and diagnosis of Western Digital hard disk.

Note: For users who use windows nt, the above-mentioned "Data Guard Tool" floppy disk cannot be created in the winnt environment. Users must create this tool disk in win9x or directly in dos.

The data protection toolkit contains the following four programs:

1, ez-install (dlgez.zip-169 kb zip file)

This program is very useful. When your system does not support large-capacity hard disk, you can use this program to partition and format the large-capacity hard disk of Western Digital instead of the original ez-drive and disk management software.

2. Diagnosis (dlgdiag.zip- 157kb zip file)

This program is a hard disk test program for Western Digital. It can detect the hard disk and print out the results, repair the errors found in the detection and format the hard disk at a low level. It replaces the original wd_diag and wd_clear programs.

It provides two hard disk detection methods: quick detection and comprehensive detection. Fast detection can collect and check the original data in the hard disk in a short time, and complete the detection of the hard disk in about 90 seconds, but it has no effect on the early Western Digital hard disk. Once your hard disk does not support this scanning method, the program will prompt you to choose another comprehensive test. It takes 5~20 minutes for a general computer to conduct a comprehensive test. If the hard disk capacity is large, the test time will be longer (the specific time depends on the hard disk capacity and cpu speed).

Diagnostic program is the most useful tool in data lifeguard tool software. It should be noted that this program must be run under dos and copied to floppy disk. If you run it directly on the hard disk, it may cause data loss or scanning errors on the hard disk. Be careful not to select the "Write Zero to Drive" item on the main menu of the program at runtime, which is used to format the hard disk at a low level. Check the list of hard disks in the computer by selecting "Select Drive", use the up/down keys to select the hard disk to be scanned, and return to the menu after confirmation. If a hard disk error is found during the test, the software will automatically fix the error. After testing, the results are as follows:

"Drive error-free"-indicates that there is no error in the detected hard disk;

"Contact wd technical support"-means that the tested hard disk failed the test, but you can seek technical support from wd manufacturer;

"Non-wd drive detected"-indicates that the hard disk being tested is not a Western Digital product;

"Restore the hard disk to a defect-free state"-indicates that the hard disk under test has bad tracks. Please select a repair item to repair the hard disk error. If it cannot be repaired, reset this track;

Note: If you are still using the old caviar hard disk: AC 140, AC 160, AC 280, AC 2 120, AC 2 170, AC 2200. Then you can't use the above program, but you should continue to use the wdatide.exe program specially developed by Western Digital Company for these hard disks.

3.BIOS check (dlgc.zip- 104kb zip file)

This program can detect the bios information of the system and list several hard disks and some parameter information recognized by the bios.

4.ultra ata/66 management tool (dlgudma.zip-131kbzip file)

Using this program, you can switch the working mode of Western Digital eide hard disk, that is, switch between ata/66 and ata/33.

Last but not least, this program must run in dos mode, otherwise it may damage your data.
