Hello fellow visitors! Welcome to Tieshan Temple Forest Park.
Tieshan Temple is located in the ancient city forest farm in Xuyi County, with a total area of ??35.73 square kilometers, including 26.73 square kilometers of mountainous areas and about 9 square kilometers of Tianquan Lake waters. It is said that Princess Iron Fan once lived here and built a temple on the mountainside, so it was called Tieshan Temple. There were originally Qingliang Temple and Kaishan Nunnery in the northeast and southwest of the temple, but it was a pity that both temples and one nunnery were destroyed by fire in the 26th year of the Republic of China. Although only the temple nunnery remains in Tieshan Temple now, the ancient trees here are towering. The stream is always flowing, the environment is quiet, the scenery is beautiful, and the original ecological environment with the singing of birds and the fragrance of flowers all year round often makes tourists linger and be intoxicated. As the saying goes, "Seeing is worth hearing a hundred times." Now that you have entered the nature reserve, do you have a refreshing and otherworldly feeling?
Tieshan Temple is located in the south of the county, bordering Lai'an, Anhui. , here is surrounded by rolling mountains on the east, south and north sides, and the central protected area covers an area of ??15.3 square kilometers. Due to the high temperature and high rainfall in the mountains, and being surrounded by mountains, the human influence is small, so it is basically preserved. In addition to the natural environment of virgin forest, this is also one of the few well-preserved ecological areas in northern Jiangsu and even the whole province. Therefore, it is known as the "Jiuzhaigou Valley" of northern Jiangsu by the scientific and cultural circles. Of course, the most eye-catching thing in this nature reserve is the rich wild resources here.
There are many tree species in Tieshan Temple Nature Reserve, and the forest distribution is in the warm temperate zone, a subtropical forest community type area. It is mainly secondary broad-leaved forest, with a small area of ??artificial forest. There are 258 species of woody plants in 64 families, 131 genera and 64 families in the area; among these 258 tree species, many are obvious transition zone tree species. For example, the big-leaved tree species that originally only grew in the Northeast and North China, and the red-veined camphor tree, feather-leaf tree, and Chinese heather that grow in southern China are not only distributed in the reserve, but also growing well. In addition, many fossil tree species have been discovered in the area, such as papaya, ginkgo, etc. Experts have determined that these tree species are hundreds or even thousands of years old, but they are still flourishing and growing happily.
In the protected area, there are abundant resources of traditional Chinese medicinal materials. More than 800 kinds of wild medicinal plants with good growth have been found, such as Radix Pseudostellariae, Polygonatum japonica, Ganoderma lucidum, Northern Adenophora, honeysuckle, etc. It can be said that here It is a natural treasure house of medicine.
Due to the special ecological environment, there are many kinds of wild animals in Tieshan Temple. In the reserve, there are more than 40 species of wild animals from more than 20 families. The larger mammals include wolves, badgers, pig badgers, grass foxes, and the grass deer, an endangered national second-class protected animal in our province; small animals include hares, hedgehogs, squirrels, weasels and various snakes. In recent years, through surveys and research by relevant departments, it has been confirmed that there are 177 species of birds in 26 families here, mainly including swans, kingfishers, mandarin ducks, great corbels, and cranes, many of which are nationally protected birds. Now, Tieshan Temple Forest Park has been scientifically planned for the reserve by Nanjing Forestry University, and has been approved by the provincial government as "Tieshan Temple Forest Park". In this unique ecological environment, the unique and coordinated combination of mountains, water, springs, forests and caves has aroused people's great interest in returning to nature.

According to the Tieshan Temple forest scientific research report, this is the ruins of the war horse breeding farm of the Ming Dynasty. The purpose of gathering the rocks formed by natural weathering into stone drum piles is to expand the pasture area and facilitate the galloping of war horses. However, there is also a saying that these ancient stone piles are stone formations used in ancient wars. This is currently being verified. middle.
The ruins of Tieshan Temple and Qingliang Temple are located on a gentle hillside between Qiu Dagang Creek. This was the home temple of Xie Jinwu in the Northern Song Dynasty. Tieshan Temple means "iron fights the country" and is long-lasting and stable. The temple was built between 968 and 970 AD. It was destroyed in the late Yuan Dynasty, rebuilt in the Ming Dynasty, and then destroyed again.
Nowadays, no buildings on the ground remain, and there are still many remains of the temple's foundation stones and pillars scattered in the mountain stream. It is said that Xue Rengui led thousands of troops during the Eastern Campaign and passed by the top of the west mountain of Tieshan Temple. It was autumn at that time. Xue Shuai rode a neat maroon horse in front. When the people and horses were tired, the horses drank one by one In order to use water, the horses stepped on the big rocks under the soil to make a big horseshoe mark, forming a horseshoe-shaped stone pond, which is now the Horse Drinking Pond (in the Ming and Qing Dynasties, the pond was used by monks of Tieshan Temple to draw water).
It is said in Gaotang that Xue Rengui led an army of tens of thousands of horses to pass through the horse drinking pool during the eastward expedition. After the men and horses drank the water, they went to Gaotang to rest. Because there were only 5 households in Gaotang at that time, the 30,000 troops had to live in tents. At night, the horses drank up all the water in a small pond in the high pond. The next day, Xue Shuai issued an order, notifying the people at the foot of the mountain and the army to work together, braving the rain, and dug out a 5-acre pond in just one day. At the time, it was rare.
Jiao Gang Meng Liang and Jiao Zan once fought in Shandong. The Meng army was defeated; Meng Liang led more than 4,000 troops and fled to Xiejia Port (now the Gucheng Forest Farm and Minjian Village). Jiao Division's 3,000 men subsequently pursued and settled in the ancient city. They sent troops to sneak into Xiejiagang to scout the enemy's situation. The scouts drew a detailed map of the mountainous terrain and handed it over to Jiao Division. After careful analysis, Jiao Division immediately led his troops to attack. He used Jiao Gang's terrain advantage annihilated the Meng army in one fell swoop. Since then, people have called this port "Jiao Port".

According to legend, the cave is the cave where Lu Dongbin, one of the Eight Immortals, lived in seclusion and practiced cultivation. It is also said that there are nine fairies living in the cave. Every Mid-Autumn Festival night, the fairies invite the people around to watch them sing and dance. They always live in harmony and get married. For important events such as funerals and weddings, villagers can borrow bowls, plates and other tableware from fairies. Usually on the first night before borrowing, villagers go to the cave to burn incense, kowtow, write the tableware they want to borrow on paper and put it into the cave. Here, the next morning, the fairy will display the tableware, and the people can borrow it and return it to the fairy in full afterwards. It is said that a villager in Nanxie Village did not return the tableware after borrowing it. From then on (mid-Qing Dynasty), the fairy never lent tableware to the villagers again.
In the Tieshan Temple Nature Reserve, there are also many medicinal vegetables and edible fungi varieties, as well as wild game, which provides us with resources and conditions for tasting "game" delicacies. The "game restaurant" opened here allows people to enjoy the mountain scenery while tasting the fresh game here. How does it taste? You might as well try it.
There are 50 two-star guest rooms in the reserve, as well as elegant wooden houses, bamboo houses, thatched cottages and other couple's houses. There are also camping tents for rent, making it easy to stay in the noisy city. After people come here, they can truly appreciate the natural atmosphere of pastoral life, which also caters to the psychological characteristics of modern people's "returning to simplicity".
