Huizhou characteristics

Huizhou is located in the south of Anhui Province, between Huangshan Mountain and Baiyue Mountain, with beautiful mountains and rivers, rich people and abundant materials. It has a long history and developed culture. Many objects and parts of Huizhou houses, halls, archways, towers, tombs and other buildings are decorated with exquisite stone carvings, wood carvings and brick carvings. Common ones are: archway, stone lion, stone horse, seat door, doors and windows, railings, etc. In ancient Huizhou, the art of folk architecture was quite developed, with unique legends and ancient customs in building houses. When building houses in rural areas, we emphasize "Feng Shui". For example, the front door of a house should not face the chimney, and the front door should face the chimney, so mirrors and scissors should be hung on the lintel. Call it "dredging sand". At present, the dirt road you take is also taboo to point the road at the gate. In Huizhou residential buildings, carpenters first set up roof trusses, and then they covered the walls with tiles. The day when the roof truss is installed is the wedding day, and friends and relatives should come to congratulate you. It is very special to have a flying beam on the roof truss.

When logging, tie a rope and support it with cattle and horses. Never fall to the ground, build a tile house that day. There is a small eaves under the eaves of Huizhou dwellings and above the doors and windows, which are called "short eaves". It is said that Song Taizu converted from a shelter and got caught in the rain. Most Huizhou dwellings have patios. The patio of "three rooms" is located in front of this hall, and the patio of four rooms is located in the hall. This design can make the room full of light, air circulation, and discharge rainwater. The disadvantage is that it is cold in winter and rainy days. The design of "patio" has much to do with Huizhou merchants. Businessmen are always afraid of the outflow of financial resources, so they build patios to prevent rainwater from flowing outside in front of and behind their houses, and then the rainwater will be brought into the patio.

Huizhou folk houses are surrounded by high walls, which are called "wind-fire walls". This kind of high-walled deep house has a vestibule as the entrance, a patio in the middle, a hall behind it and a bedroom behind it. There is a "wind-fire wall" behind the hall, and the patio is against the wall with wings on both sides. This is the first entrance. The structure of the second well is that one room is divided into two halls, one in front and the other in back.

Huizhou folk houses:

The most striking feature of Huizhou architecture is the five-fold horse head wall, which is called "five mountains in the sky" by the people. The original function of the horse head wall is to build a dike, which can prevent the fire next door from hurting families. Today, the Horsehead Wall has evolved into the characteristics of Huizhou folk houses. Every time you enter the courtyard, the wall is high and the house is deep, and the windows are few and small, but a skylight will be opened above the courtyard for lighting, and the rain will fall into the courtyard along this skylight, and then flow into the lake through the sewer. Because people believe that water can make money, it means "four waters return to the hall". Entering the courtyard, there is also a white powder wall, indigo tiles and cornices specially painted to prevent rain from washing away, which constitutes a perfect picture.
