Yang mu's student days

In September, 1947 was admitted to the English Department of Sun Yat-sen University. Later, he joined the patriotic and democratic association, a peripheral organization of the underground party, and became the backbone of the progressive student organization of the English Department. He used to be the head of the liaison group of various departments of Sun Yat-sen University and the vice chairman of the Student Union of Foreign Languages Department of Sun Yat-sen University. He was elected as one of the three student representatives of CUHK, and petitioned the Ministry of Education of the Kuomintang government to increase the food subsidies for normal students in CUHK and the salary stickers for poor teachers. The underground party also organized him to study Marxism-Leninism and Mao Zedong Thought's works, and posted anti-Chiang and anti-American slogans and articles at night. He also used his vacation to study "Southern Night School" in Hong Kong, to listen to lectures by Guo Moruo, Mao Dun, Deng Chumin and Jian Bozan, and to have an outing with them.

After the People's Liberation Army 1949 crossed the river, there was a "white terror" in Guangzhou. The Kuomintang dispatched a large number of military police to surround Sun Yat-sen University. Yang Mu was ordered by the underground party to lead a group of underground student associations to sneak into Dapeng Bay in Huiyang County via Hong Kong and join the Dongjiang column-the Guangdong-Jiangxi-Hunan Border Region column to participate in the battle to liberate Huizhou. Later, he worked in Dongjiang Cultural and Art Troupe, Propaganda Department of Dongjiang prefectural Party Committee, Yuedong Party Committee and Yuedong Workers, Peasants and Soldiers Magazine, and won many awards: 1952 was the pacesetter of land reform in Zijin County, 1950 was the second prize of mass literary creation in Guangdong Province, and 1953 was the title of outstanding worker of Yuedong Party Committee directly under the authority. Join the party at the beginning of 1954.

1954 was selected by the government and admitted to Beijing Russian Institute as a transfer student. During my school days, I was named "Three Good Students" and attended the National Congress of Outstanding Students in Colleges and Universities.
