The library of Jiyuan Vocational and Technical College

The history of Jiyuan City Library can be traced back to the "County Public Library" established in 1928. It was formally established as an independent cultural institution in the autumn of 1979. After nearly 30 years of development, the library has begun to take shape. In September 2008, the new library of Jiyuan City Library was completed and opened. The new library is located on the north side of Jiyuan City Century Square. The appearance design is simple, open, modern and grand. It is a landmark cultural building in Jiyuan City. The new building has a construction area of ??21,000 square meters, a 12-story building, and an opening area of ??12,000 square meters.

In order to make more effective use of book resources and provide a better reading environment for readers, on May 16, 2008, the Municipal Party Committee and Municipal Government decided to merge the Jiyuan Vocational and Technical College Library and Jiyuan City Library. One institution has two brands. It is the Jiyuan City Library to the outside world, and its daily management is placed in the Technical College. Its business is under the dual management of the Municipal Culture, Radio and Television Bureau and the Technical College. Funds are subject to full fiscal budget management. The integrated Jiyuan City Library (Jiyuan Vocational and Technical College Library) ensures that the city's social and cultural service functions are improved and that the college's teaching and scientific research service capabilities are strengthened. It pioneered the cooperation between Henan Provincial Public Library and university libraries.

In order to better serve the society and readers, the library is open every day, 365 days a year. The library currently has a collection of 750,000 books of various types and more than 1,600 reading seats. There are currently 41 staff members, including 3 master's degree students; 21 librarians and intermediate professional titles or above, including 3 senior professional titles. The internal organization consists of 7 functional departments including the acquisition and editing department, circulation department, reading department, information technology department, reader service department, property management department, and office.

The new library is equipped with a modern lecture hall, search area, children's reading area, blind reading room, local literature reading room, ancient book library, Wang Huairang Literature and Art Museum, various book collection and reading areas, and readers' leisure area Waiting for 18 reader service areas. It can provide readers with services such as borrowing of library books, newspapers and periodicals, online literature information, retrieval of ancient books and local literature, topic setting services, social education training and business guidance.

Since the opening of the new library, its appeal to readers has gradually increased and its service capabilities have been greatly improved. The number of registered readers has reached 22,000, and it receives 2,500 readers every day. It remains open every day throughout the year, and receives more than 800,000 readers annually. After the integration of the two libraries, the functions of the public library and the university library have been fully exerted, and have been affirmed by provincial and municipal leaders and cultural authorities. In October 2010, it successfully hosted the 22nd Provincial Municipal Public Library Directors' Meeting in Henan Province, and was awarded the "Henan Province National Reading Advanced Unit" for two consecutive years, winning honors for Jiyuan City. The work of the library has been published in newspapers and periodicals such as People's Daily, Henan Daily, and Jiyuan Daily. "Henan TV" and "Jiyuan TV" also continued to report. The library is even called the "spiritual paradise" of the people of Jiyuan and the "big study room" of the people of the city by "Jiyuan Daily". In 2010, it was named a “First-Class Library” by the Ministry of Culture.

As an important window to showcase the material civilization, political civilization and spiritual civilization of Jiyuan City, Jiyuan City Library has established the service concepts of "people-oriented, readers first" and "expanding services and improving quality", and strives to create an elegant Pleasant reading environment, constantly increasing the types of books and periodicals, expanding the scope of services, improving service methods, and improving service quality.
